Finally I had to put my MP3 into storage. Too cold and freezing in Chicago to ride anymore. Guess I will see you folks again next April.

I managed to clock 5600 miles in 2 years. I actually thought I would ride a lot more than 2600 miles (I did 3000 miles first year) but fate was not meant to be.

I know Chi town gets really cold. As long as it's dry in the NYC, i'm on the road with the MP3. My coldest ride was 27 degrees. With liners in my motorcycle gloves and handlebar mittens, 40 min commute is not bad at all. Pants and Jacket have liners as well so no cold gets in.

cheers

Sorry to hear you are packing up for the winter but Chicago gets more wintery (read:snow) than Toronto if I remember correctly. Not to mention not everyone enjoys bundling up for the cold.

I'm like nktwrk but our cities have pretty similar winter though I think NYC gets a little more snow. Toronto is strange in that you only need to go about 20 minutes away and there is lots of white stuff. See cars with snow on their roofs all the time when we get nothing. Guess the natives that settled here knew something...

Enjoy the winter, happy holidays and you have something to look forward to in the spring

I rode mine this morning to the train station in Chicago...No snow, temperature above freezing...
I don't like to winterize it so I try to ride it once every 2 weeks as soon as the weather allows it.
See you soon in spring Greenspam.

Its the hand muffs that makes the biggest difference to me.

Nothing like wearing your summer gloves when its 5 c and raining and being warm and dry, well hands anyway.

Too Cold
Does anyone wear a heated jacket with the MP3?

Not an MP3 but a GTV and C650GT. The difference is of course is really irrelevant. Not a heated jacket but I do have a heated vest and heated glove liners. I think the vest is the best bet for bang for the buck and battery use. If possible I prefer not to plug in to the bike as I don't like being tethered. I went with a Venture vest and MOTIONHeat Rechargeable Heated Glove Liners.

The difference especially with the hands is very noticeable. I ride mostly around the city so only need a few hours change a day and that isn't a problem. You can also get spare batteries and charge them in the bike. Not sure if the MP3 has a built in charger?

A vest heats the core which is the most important part of the upper body. Venture makes jackets as well though. The other thing to really consider is a skirt, another huge difference.

Yes...

I run "Dual Batteries" during the Winter on my MP3/250, as it can't handle the Amperage Draw. My MP3/500 handles just fine with regular battery.

Rejo - awesome bike!

For cold weather riders, SOCKS are your friend. Ever get that cold draft between your gloves and coat or the cold draft between your pants and your boots?

1 pair of socks big hole for fingers little hole for thumb, no more glove draft. Works best with long sleeve shirt.

1 pair of socks big hole near toes, pull these over your socks then over your pants. I wear motorcycle pants over my work pants so the socks go over my work pants.
