Hi

long story short, I owned and rode several bikes on my 47 years, from sport
bikes to cruisers to scooters, my last bike was a Triumph Speedmaster and now I want to try a MP3, I rode a 400 MP3 couple of years ago for like 2 minutes, all I want the MP3 to do is ride my 260lbs 6'1" body to work (25 miles total both ways with no highway) couple of times a week, would a 250 be ok or will I get bored and want more power??? my budget its 3K, I have a 2007 250cc with 1250 miles for U$2.000 or a 2009 500cc with 13k miles for U$2.800 , they both look in decent condition and nothing broken etc...

any input???

tks
Alfredo

You've had bikes with speed, how important is it to you? Personally I'm glad I have the 500. As a bigger guy, I would think you would as well.

Based on your input, I would go with a good used MP3/400...
There are still a few around.

It sounds like you are mostly talking about 10 year old bikes. How important is reliability for your application, and how capable are you of learning to do your own servicing on the MP3?

That is good, given the age of the used scooters you are considering. Now, you will need to familiarize yourself with the complex front suspension and electronics of the MP3. They are more likely to give you issues than the engine - and most Vespa/Piaggio dealers don't seem to have a tech who knows much about the systems on these scooters.

That is the exact reason I went with the 500. I figure if it can carry two people it can carry me

I've had my Matilda going on six years now and I am totally happy with her. She's got a 500 in her with plenty of power to get me where I need to go and she's very dependable and fun to ride to. I would definitely recamend the 500.
