DAY ONE
As I noted in the General tab pre Christmas, I was part of a plan for a group of scooterists and motorcyclists to do a four day trip around the East Cape of the North Island of New Zealand. What follows is a copy of my Facebook posts with extra embellishments for this group.

Out on my first big adventure on Sofia, 4 days with the Napier Scooter Club doing the East Cape. I trailered Sofia from Hamilton to Napier leaving the car and trailer with family and staying overnight with friends who had got me into this trip. So, Friday morning 11 January we made our way to the assigned meeting place. After coffee in Napier with various extra people including family members and well wishers - yes people came to make sure we left I think - we headed north to Wairoa, a small rural town that serves the surrounding farming community where we stopped for famous in New Zealand Oslers pies - except it was too hot for pies so it was sandwiches. As we continued to do for the rest of the ride we topped up our tanks and moved on after a very relaxing half hour or so. I regret not getting pictures of some of the buildings while we were there but more of that later.
We then took the inland road via Tiniroto to Gisborne, kilometres of lovely flowing roads that were occasionally a bit sticky in the wheel tracks with temperatures in the 30s. It seemed rude to not stop at the Tiniroto Tavern and partake in a cold drink as they were not very busy. The scooters all stopped but the two bikes and the trail car failed to see our frantic waves and cell phone coverage is minimal there so we could only leave messages that would come through when they reached civilisation again. Our Honda rider had a flattish tyre so he led to ensure our pace was correct and we found the others stopped at a pub waiting for us. We joined them while the Honda man went off looking for help at 4:30pm on a Friday afternoon. He returned with a tube inside the tyre and $58 lighter pretty impressed with the help and service late on a Friday in semi rural New Zealand.
We moved on the 10 - 15km to our accommodation for the night and got together for a few drinks before dinner at The Works, a superb restaurant on the waterfront in Gisborne. Great food and I enjoyed a Matawhero Pinot rosť. Certainly a primo day with 8 two wheelers including a Honda 150cc scoot, a BMW C600 (650cc twin scooter), my GT200 (Sofia), a 250ie GTS, a 250cc GT60, a 300Super Sport, a Harley Fat Bob, a Yamaha Road Star 1600cc V twin and a car carrying the bags.

Photos to follow.

I have made several attempts to upload photos, but the site is being a little stubborn. I will continue to try.

Hmm. I remember getting that a few times, but can't recall why. Generally haven't had a lot of problems. Seeing not a lot of traffic over here, maybe could post over on General Discussion and get more attention....

Are you posting from a mobile device like an iThing or Android device? That can be temperamental and only one pic at a time. Much easier from a web browser. If using Chrome try Firefox or Safari/Internet Explorer (not Edge) .

It's too bad really only the General forum and NSM forum seem to get read. A lot of good posts get missed.

I am using Safari on an iMac. I started trying on my iPad but gave up early. I will try again during the weekend if I get a chance.

Strange, I use Safari all the time to post pics. I drag the photos out of the Photos app (iPhoto) and on to the desktop. I then upload those to the post and have never had a problem.

It could be your connection is timing out on the upload I suppose.
