Starting tomorrow 9 riders will start making their way to Dakar, Senegal. From there we will ride for 10 days south through three countries. We are expecting quite an adventure.
I will be blogging as internet connections allow and you can follow along here:

https://2019scooters.blogspot.com/

I and I am sure the other MV'rs on this trip will post pictures and stories directly to this post.

I think a big time will be had by all.

Sunscreen
Got the most painful sunburn of my life in Dakar. Forgot to put sunscreen on the tops of my feet and wore sandals all day. Couldn't wear shoes again for several days.

Have a great trip!

What a Great Adventure
Wish I could be with you. My only concern is whether the chinese scooters
can hold up.

Happy trails,

the Chinese scooter are holding up very well. We have a mechanic traveling with us but he's only had two adjust things on a new scooters such as chain tensioner etc. These are the only practical machines to ride and this part of the world as their everywhere and any place you break down a part is near. Phil and Matt are excellent tour guides and a lot of fun!!

1.That is the kitchen at the ecolodge on an island we stayed on. It was a great place.
2. That was the siper in my bathroom in the ecolodge on the island. It just sat there and bothered no one.
In fact, there have been almost no bugs

Not with THAT spider around!

Frankly, I'm a bit disappointed in that last batch...I was fully expecting to see African Elvis.

Every time I post the url it plops in the video.

I will try this "https://youtu.be/yICg4K6uZ2Y"

Besides I have been busy protesting while Scott has been out making friends on his first trip to Paris!

Home at last
Well, guess I should add some commentary to this thread. It is without a doubt one of the most fun and exciting things I have ever done and I have done a few things in my life. What a great experience. We road on highways, we road through deep sand, we road gravel roads, we road down goat tracks, we crossed rivers in canoes with the scooters, we had great meals and we met great people along the way. It was hard to tell who was having the most fun. The leaders and owners of Scoot West Africa, Matt and Phil, or the rest of us. They really enjoy leading scooter trips and we are working on more in different areas.

Having 10 riders that all known each other was a bonus. We knew our strengths and weakness's and made it all work.

I really urge anyone who wants an adventure to try this one. You do not have to be a expert rider. Just be able ride and have determination to do it. Be able to handle change as things change as you go along. Be able to go a few days with out hot water in shower and don't expect the Holiday Inn Express.

There is NO danger. The people are wonderful and you will feel like a rock star when they all come out to see you. It is not every day they get to see 12 foreigners riding scooters in their area.

Give it a try.

PM my if you want individual discussions on this adventure.
