Hi guys!
Here is my 50 Special 1981. I pay for it a little price and then do some rebuild and now it alive again.

I changed a lot of engine parts, suspension parts & chassis parts.
But now I need help with a clutch.

What I do:
-New clutch
-New gearbox
-New push rod kit
-New clutch lever
-New clutch cable
-New adjusting screw
-Use the Castrol Manual EP 80W-90 Gear Box oil

Then I adjust the clutch and go for a first ride.
After ride I noticed that with the clutch lever fully pressed and the any gear engaged, the clutch does not fully open and the scooter tries to go forward. If I hold it with my feet or brakes, it can stall, so I need to constantly open the throttle a little & listen to the sound of the clutch slipping.
So I try to adjust clutch again, but nothing came of it.
Either the clutch slipped when the clutch lever was pressed or the kickstarter slipped when the clutch lever was released while trying to start the engine

Then I changed to new actuation lever.
But the problem remained - I still canít properly adjust the clutch release. Or something I do not understand and this is a normal situation?
Maybe somebody here can help me?
P.S. Sorry for my bad english.

what levers are you running?

the smallframes had different lever to give just a little bit more travel needed.

even then and perfectly adjusted it will drag a bit.

I use this levers - https://www.sip-scootershop.com/en/products/sport+lever+fa+super+sport+_24422100
If U mean a lever wich situated in clutch cover then it is a full stock V50 lever, I didn't change it.
Thanx

I've found that lever to have the least travel of all options.

My preferred lever for a dog leg is this one:

Thanx a lot!!
I just remembered that I have an old lever that was with Vespa when I bought it. It is very similar in form. I will try to put it and adjust the clutch

check the basket
which clutch?....if its the XL2..then then it will be rubbing on the basket face inside. look at the clutch basket and inside there is a pressed circular dish area.....the original and some baskets DO NOT have this area....and no amount of adjusting any where will fix "scooter creep".
I have seen on the German site someone who manged to press a circular dish into the original smallie basket (with 51mm socket from memory)

With out the pressed dish inside the basket, the clutch itself will always be hard against the basket and be turning it it....there will prob be shiny scores on the clutch..and the basket.

Dismantle the clutch and show us a pic of the inside of the basket...and the side of clutch with the raised area..(the side that goes into the engine case)

Fckn scooters

Good luck

Try the doggies...but
I had exactly the same prob, Dog levers gave more travel but did not fix it.......and anyhoo..your adjusting to the furtherest point out had no effect...so the extra travel gained by the doggies will not pull the clutch any further out..it just begins earlier

PS the DR clutch basket i was using had NO pressed dish on the inside for the PK Xl2 clutch (the one with ball bearing pressure plate) to sit down into

Ill wager thats your issue

good luck

clutch fettle
you may have to file the clutch basket finger insides. One by one try each clutch plate in the basket..hold it level and check it slides up and down with NO catching on the basket edges...file the edges a few mm.

On brand new clutches a plate can get lodged againstthe basket and so the scooter will creep forward regardless od any cable setting

and......Can you show a pic of the BACK of the clutch and down inside the basket

I have had to grind the small welds down just a bit so the clutch does not touch the basket.

Good luck

Now I understand more
Thanx for help!
When I have time, I'll take off the clutch and check everything and take a photo to show here.

btw, I drove 4000 km over the past summer with this problem. Is this very bad for clutch or other parts?

Maybe this helps?
I disassembled the clutch and saw that its plates do not have gaps in the pad.

I made these gaps.

I also cut down and lined the teasers on the plates.
