it'll be really really tight and difficult to turn over by hand. running, it'll whine and be difficult to shift with the possibility of moments of gear clash between the tree and the next gear resulting in a terrifying grinding sound.
Twas not the shims that were too tight..ended up the outer cable for the gear was riding on the adjuster.....the cable at the back that pulls first from neutral is hard to see......nice and tight when it was set..then when you pulled it into 2 3 and 4..the cable in questionwould go too loose and you could no longer get it into first.
Established this by pulling the gear elector box completely off....and then turning the handle and watching the bat wing go back and forth (or not) ..was also I nice way of setting the cables so the neutral dot lined up.
