...the first ride of 2019!!!!

I work from home and when I went to the kitchen for lunch, I noticed the thermometer was indicating 63 deg, looked out and it was a decent day. So as I was having lunch, I ran thru a risk analysis of going for a ride. Considerations were: digging out all the riding gear, assessing road conditions (wet, sand, potholes, etc), drivers not being aware of riders yet, etc. I concluded I had no choice but to go for a ride. I picked a route that I know is less traveled and decided to pretend the 150cc was a 50cc and I was limited to 35-40 mph, which is the speed on that road anyhow.

Put air in tires, checked oil, lights, etc and off I went. Once I got thru some light traffic getting to the road, the cars disappeared. I pulled over once to let some one by who appeared to be in a hurry, which I was not.

It felt so good to be on two wheels, feeling the wind, breathing the air, looking at everything from the perspective of being not in an enclosed environment.

In the words of the Eagles, I settled into a "peaceful, easy feeling". It felt like my scooter had become my emotional battery charger after a long winter!

And knowing the philosophy of this forum, here are some pics!

Glad you could get out!

About the same here, and despite flooding, saw a Can-Am and a sport bike out.

Not me, still no weight-bearing until April.

Although, technically, riding isn't weight-bearing. OTOH, if my wife caught me......

Thanks for the Peaceful Easy Feeling
wbdvt,

I really appreciated your post. Still cabin fever here in Minnesota.
We are thawing. 50 degrees this week.

Again Thanks,

You really only need one foot to plant on the ground with a Vespa. No step over and just a wee step through. I think you have grounds for a scooter ride....

Snowed last night but already melted by today. Soon I'm guessing there will be bikes all over the place here. And in 11 days the dedicated motorcycle parking areas go in to effect and cages are not allowed. Must be almost spring...

Thanks for sharing, it's vital to hear and see these sparks of life after a long, long winter.

Actually our Spring just made a short leap forward due to warmer weather. Some snow still to come, but a lot also melting away rapidly.

This year I'll try to cheat a bit - going to Souther Spain for a few days and rent a bike there... and after that I'll do the dusting for my own

I'm going to let YOU talk to her.

Now that I'm fully upright (yet booted), I'm cleared to go. Wife will still roll her eyes, but no longer has grounds to protest.

May have to sort out some maintenance issues....e.g. may need a battery, but with 60ish temps tomorrow, nothing can stop me from getting out and about.

Nuthin' like a good scooter ride to clear the head.

That is why I do it every day.

Hey, it worked!

And then it sleeted and snowed the next day.

Out of the boot in a few days.....snow's gotta be over, nothing can stop me!
