So my 2007 MP3 finally died. I have around 55,000 km on it. The front brakes have not worked for around 6 months, tilt lock around 2 years, remote storage since G-D knows how long. Now the belt went. I do have to admit that I never had it serviced like it called for. Been 8-9 years since the only tune up. I have change the oil a few times. The only thing I spent money on was for numerous tires.
Quandary I've had it towed to Vespa of Fort Lauderdale from Delray Beach Fl
Cost $95.00 They are going to put in new belt, fixed front brakes, tune up. Not having tilt lock fixed, can live without. So I'm up to around $900.00 My question is it worth spending the $900.00 and have a 12 year bike that runs or should I have just walked away when it died. I know it would be worth nothing if it didn't run and dealer said they would make me sign a waiver if I didn't get the front brakes fixed
I'm 74 years young and do still enjoy riding it. All my friends say I'm crazy for still riding and also spending that much money.
When i finally get it back, been 3weeks with no answer, how much does anyone think it's worth

Sorry to be blunt, but I am going to.
You rode it for 6 months with NO front brakes? In Florida, the Capital of left turns from the right lane and visa versa. Are you INSANE??!!!

Step one is to get some comon sense before you decide to ride again. That was just stupid.
And I am not calling you stupid, I am saying what you did was stupid.

Fix it, you can at least a $1000 for it, so it's worth it if you still want to ride.

I'd vote for fixing it. Brakes and belt are not that expensive, and if the engine is still OK, you''l still have a bike that's worth $1000-$2000 depending on how dented up it is. Besides, what would you replace it with? I bet anything that you replace it with will be north of $900.

I'd bet there are a couple of people on the forum here that would take it off your hands for $500 right now. If it were in Austin, I'd do it in a heartbeat.

Web Tech's right. What are you going to find out there worth riding for $1000?

You like the bike, you know the bike, you fit the bike-fix it and continue to enjoy the bike.

I would fix it, but not at the hands of the Dealer...
Do it yourself. Good time to learn with so many problems.

I'd walk away before I put a grand into a (admittedly) neglected bike that's not even worth 2 grand.
It'll still be a 12 year old MP3. It's not a Honda. It's a MP3.. Won't be long until the next $900 issue rears it's head.

Try again, perhaps?

I guess after he gets his $900 of use, he could sell it as a parts bike to someone.

If you haven't had anything done to it in 8 years that's not a lot of money to make it right again.
