Today I took the wife's scooter (2006 GTS 250, ~500mile on it) for a test drive after replacing belt, oil, oil filter, hub oil, air filter, coolant. At about 10 miles into ride, yellow engine light came on. Pulled over and checked all fluids and everything seemed fine. Started it up and no engine light until I rode about a mile, pulled over, light stayed on, shut off, restarted, no light, ride ~1 mile, comes back on.

Rode home and did some research but not sure on VR or O2 sensor? On my other GTS 250 when I had a bad VR the light would come on at like 3k rpms and go off when drop below. However, I did check voltages:

Off 12.87V
Idle 13.55V but it took over a minute for the voltage to climb to this level
3k rpm 15.7V

On the sister scooter with the new VR:

Off 12.61V
Idle 13.8V but that was just about immediately
3k rpm 14V

So, my thoughts are that the VR is acting up but would like other opinions before I order a new one.

Thank you!

Definitely the VR. We just got in a bunch from Piaggio on sale. These are in the original Piaggio packaging.

Thanks Scooterpartsco the VR arrived Friday and today was heavy rain so dived into the VR replacement.

New voltages are:

OFF: 12.44
Idle: 14.25
3k RPM: 14.5

So things are looking good!
