This morning the Mrs. was on Red Bubble looking at Vespa stickers for her GTS250 which we acquired with another one late fall 2018. I spent the winter doing various maintenance items on them and this morning was changing brake fluid on the two Sprint 150s.

So at breakfast her comment, spurred by seeing stickers relating to vintage Vespa's was, "I'm surprised that you haven't bought a vintage Vespa to tinker with yet."

So, I guess I should start looking?????

How EXACTLY did she phrase it?

Did she say it as you wrote... or did you say it that way and she responded, "Do whatever you want."?

If the latter, DO NOT do whatever you want. I speak from experience.

She said it as I have related it in the quotes.

Well, don't want to go too quick and end up with bodge or something worse.

Need to start on my vintage learning curve!

Sounds like you have the green light. Don't get caught napping.

And before you pull the trigger, post pictures on the 'Not So Modern' side of MV. They won't let you go wrong.

Well, it must be in the cards as we were watching a youtube vid from Amerivespa 2012 in Lake Geneva and I commented on the sound of 2 strokes. She replied, "when you going to get a vintage one that you can tinker around with over the winter. Maybe find one with a sidecar."

So I up to two times her saying about getting a vintage! So it looks like I will start looking and researching. Any advice for what would be a good vintage to cut my teeth on so to speak?

If it was my wife then I'd guess there was a major purchase out there somewhere that she wanted as well

It was my wife who, twelve years ago, said, "Why don't you get a motorcycle?"

Two crashes later, she wasn't so keen on the idea.

Still, she puts up with it because she loves me and wants me to be happy.

Look for a P-series Vespa: p200, P150, or P125 (if you can find one). If you are looking at an older model, be very aware that 90% of the ones on CL, Ebay, etc..are SEA bodges. Do some research on this, there is a sticky on the NSM side. Good luck with your search.
