So on the MP3, is it me or is counter-steering on this beast "counter-intuitive". I understand the concept of counter-steering on a motorcycle: Push on the left side handlebar = go left, right side = go right. But on the MP3, my brain tells me to just lean and forgo the push to turn. Granted, I only do city streets and never get above 45 and haven't hit any long winded turns requiring much counter-steer...

Straightforward question:

Does the MP3 counter-steer the same way as a moto or is my brain getting the best of me.

Leaning only works till there is too much gyroscopic energy from the two front tires to overcome just leaning.
You want to counter steer.

yes you counter steer just like any other 2 wheel motorcycle,

go do this test.

find an open parking lot.
in a straight line travel about 10-15 mph and just push left.
now do the same and taking your left hand off the bars and just lean left.

come back and tell me which was easier to do.

Yes, the MP3 countersteers just like any PTW - for the same reasons.

Play a game while you're out on a quiet street. While you're riding, choose a manhole cover or pothole or tar strip, and decide that you're going to avoid it. Then decide if you're gonna go to the left or right. And counter steer around it.

Your brain is not getting the best of you.....I too have felt myself leaning into turns without much steering input. I believe that is due to the high center of gravity of the mp3 compared to other maxi scooters. It is not possible to 'throw' an mp3 into a turn like some other scooters, or at least I can't do it.

Leaning is not what turns a bike, it is countersteer. Each time you go into a corner, you subconsciously countersteer, whether you know it or not. It is more or less muscle memory through practice and then becomes second nature.

If you were to put a fixed bar on a motorcycle above the handlebars to allow you not to countersteer, you would find that leaning is not what causes it to turn but only to lean. You may have a very slight bit of turning with the lean but maybe enough to move the bike with very slight directional change.
