yeah, that doesn't look good.

Now that you have the three yellow wires isolated, try some tests with your voltmeter:

With everything off, check the resistance between each pair of wires. It should be low, less than 10 ohms. Then check the resistance between each wire and ground. It should be high, > 1 meg ohm. Then start the bike and check the AC voltage between each pair of wires. It should be greater than 20 VAC when you rev the bike.

If all of those pass, then your stator is OK, and you should probably replace your regulator/rectifier.

If the scooter side of that plug is bad, you can cut the wires and just use Spade lugs. Just make sure you label all the wires before you cut the connector off.

And your Regulator maybe good too. I would try by passing the connector for the bad wires and see if it charges.

You were measuring AC volts between the yellow stator wires, not DC I trust? And with that unplugged from the regulator the battery volts won't go up when the bike is running as it's not being charged...

Looks like you're measuring between the red and black wires, which is battery. The three yellow should be 3-phase AC volts from the stator. There should be somewhere > 20VAC between each pair of yellows when running. Nothing when stopped.

Well owning a mp3 is interesting if nothing else Yes you,r right Squeazel thats where i,m testing. Received brand new voltage reg, in post and put it on started bike up and was getting 14v but would not go any higher when reved up to 5,000 revs ---on tick over the volts started to slip down to about 13-8 when i turned it of battery was charged to 12-7. also the reg, was quite hot.

Whats going on Cheers Sammy
