Just after 10 pm Saturday night 2019-05-11, Darren was involved in a collision incident in San Francisco while riding his motorcycle. The other vehicle was a BMW X3. Sadly he died of his injuries after being taken to hospital. I've not heard any other details.

Darren was the Service manager at Rockridge Two Wheels in Oakland. Many if not most Bay area Vespa owners will have known him as the friendly face of scooter service.

Mrs jimc (Ivana Tinkle of this forum) worked alongside him while she ran Vespa Walnut Creek some years ago - we have lost a good friend.

I'm sorry for your loss, jimc. Yours and everyone's who knew him. We have motorcycle auto/truck accidents regularly in the Phoenix area; enough for ADOT to put "Watch for motorcycle" signs on all overhead highway signs. Unfortunately, most accidents don't happen on the freeway.

This is just awful news.

Prayers to his family, friends and fellow employees. I know the owner Darragh runs a tight ship up there in Oakland. They will need all the help
the riding community can muster to hold them tightly at this time.

Sorry you had to report this Jimc.

I've used Darren's team of mechanics many times. Darren was the best thing they had going. I am profoundly saddened by the news.

He was the face, the voice, and in embodiment of quality service. I am sorry for him leaving this place in pain. I'll lift a drink to Darren!
