Hi i bought a MP3 500 LT sport ABS 2014 it was a non runner with a shot engine
So new ish engine fitted and everything serviced its ready to go back in the road
but i have a few questions- the lights are the head lights permanently on and you can only switch to high beam
and also getting an MOT do you go to a motor bike station or is it classed as class 3
thanks in advance
PS i did have a X9 250 till about 3 months and really enjoyed it

The LT is class 3 only. The original MP3s and the Fuoco were class 1 (125cc) or 2 (the rest). All down to the space between the front wheels...

(and the X9 250 was my favourite )

You want the headlight to be on all the time. People don't see bikes as is and you want to be as visible as possible. There is only a high beam and a dipped beam which is always on.

Tell me about not seeing you.

Coming through a Traffic Circle in NJ on Monday. I enter, coming around the circle and this SUV goes from a full stop to gunning it to enter the circle, just as I was coming around. I could see her eyes looking and not seeing me. I blew the horn and broke really hard and swerved to miss hitting her.

They just do not see. And that was with headlights on.

PS Though I Like how good the stopping is on the MP3. If I was on the Vespa I do not think I would have stopped that short.

Things have changed with the MOT rules in the UK over the last couple of years, but the first place to start is with your registration document (V5)

If yours is registered as a 'Tricycle' you need to take it to a Class 3 MOT Testing station, if it is registered as a 'Bicycle', then Class 1 or 2 depending on the engine size.

My Fuoco was registered from new in 2007 as a Tricycle (Importer did the conversion before first registration) and looking through the old MOT certificates, I noticed that it had previously been tested either as a Class 2 or a Class 3, but now that everything is digital, that can't happen now.

Even if yours is registered as a Bicycle, there's no guarantee that a Class 2 MOT Testing station will accept it - I have heard of MP3's registered as Bicycles being turned away because they have 3 wheels, even though they are authorised to test them.
