I'm looking to buy the Max Meyer code 1.298.8840 paint and would like to buy it online. Does anybody have a good online paint source that can generate this paint code? I live in a small town and cannot go to the autobody or paint store and have them mix it for me.

It's for the 1962 Allstate Cruisaire. I want to paint the rims and front fork so it'll look close to original.

Thanks!

How much paint do you need? Remember it needs to be reduced. Scott

Enough to paint the rims and front assembly/fork. Not much but I'm not sure. Do you have a line on where I can get this paint color?

I think that color is Blu Medio 213 or Max Meyer color code: 1.298.7213 but I could be wrong. That was the light blue color used in 1962, though your frame is a couple years back because they used older frames for Allstates.

You can prob get away with an 1 aerosol can but 2 will do it with extra to spare.

Scooterwest has the hole quart for $200. https://www.scooterwest.com/custom-color-matched-paint-for-vintage-vespas1-qt-paint-mix-vin.html

These guys may can mix you up an aerosol can but I'm not sure that color is avaialable. You will have to contact them to verify. https://www.66autocolor.com/Piaggio-Vespa-Scooter-Paint-Blue-p/vespa-scooter-paint.htm

Maskes also has the color but shipping from Holland may not be provided. You will have to send them an email to verify. http://www.maskesvespaparts.com/Webwinkel-Product-90064917/Spray-can-Max-Meyer-in-color.html

Good luck!

I also like this suggestion as you will get a better matching color. Send the package carrier, after you bring back the color.

Good info there. His number and your number not quite the same. Gascooter will have to figure out the correct number. I can buy the paint by the pint...he doesn’t need that much.

Rowdy: were you ever able to use the piston/cyl I sent you? Scott

Yes, worked great. Thanks so much. We were able to get the bike started but would not stay running. Thinking it's electrical problems with CDI or condenser. After completely fixing was going to text you a video of it running but we stopped to fix my sidecar frame (he's a welder). Next I'll take him my CDI from my P and a extra condenser I have laying around to see if that's the problem. Hope to have his bike on the road soon and you'll be the first to know!

BTW, that's a great idea of you offering to get paint for Gascooter. That idea never crossed my mine.

Also didn't see the code Gascooter had in his post. It's late for me and the homegrown meds are kicking end.
I think he's correct and 1.298.8840 (Grigio Celeste 840) is the color.

It sounds like you have it sorted out with help from Sjanuary (nice guy for helping out) , But ill go ahead and add this. What about a local auto body shop or car dealer close to you ? Now days most mix their own paint on site, Find the right bodyman/ painter and he may be able to help you.

qa... if you can’t get paint locally, your best bet is to take Scott up on his generous offer to get it for you.

I wouldn’t rely solely on a paint code. Even if a shop can decipher it into a modern paint formula (mine couldn’t), it won’t match your 60 yr old Allstate very closely. Send him a part - the glove box door or rack - so the shop has something to eyeball.

Good idea from socal...if you want it to match your existing color send me a small part. I have a guy at the paint store that is really good at matching.
Off to work. Scott

Wow Scott. That'd be awesome! Thank you so much! I've got the rack but maybe the glovebox door might be just the ticket. I'll PM you later today.

Thanks again!

Since Scott was kind enough to offer to get me some paint, it got me thinking. And since the best way to get a match is to use an existing part I did some more thinking. We do have a paint guy in town. Not an auto paint guy but he's pretty good, and a great human being in general.

I gave Ron a call and talked with him about the project. He knows I ride scooters and would love to have a crack at matching the paint! So I'm going to bring him a part (the rack or the glove box door) and drop it off to him so he can have some time to "play with matching it" as hey said. Ron says he's got a machine to get it close, but it never is exact, and he likes to get a little closer. Sounds promising!

So thank you Scott for the kind offer. If the paint I get locally turns out to be a bust, I'll be giving you a call!

Thanks again!

You say he's not a Auto Paint guy, What is he ? What type of paint are you thinking of using ?

Just curious.

Hey Amy. Ron runs a paint store that mainly supplies the local contractors with their paint. He's not an autobody place, so it's not the type of paint he matches all the time. But matching colors he can do, and he's excited about this type of project. So we'll see what he comes up with. My guess is it'll work out fine.

And I'd like to keep it local if I could. Small towns need all the help they can get!
