Hi all, Looks like we are moving to Santa Fe and I am thinking it makes little sense to drag the 500 along for the move. There isnít a scooter shop there and the nearest shops are an hour away.
Well, its been about a decade that I have owned it, and as I feel about Denver these days, I suppose I feel about the same about the 500- its time to move on.
I have a lot of accessories that I will try to get posted in the for sale section here: a madstad windscreen, a givi soft topbox, and a few other things. In may be a few days before I get around to it.
Though I have not been active here for a while ( I just lost interest) it has always been a good group and I have enjoyed all your company.

I'd sell my soul to have a Vespa/Piaggio shop only one hour away. Heck I'd do it for two hours away!

I'm at least 6 hours away from my nearest.

True, maybe an hour away is not too big a deal, but whether they would know a thing about a 500 is a reasonable question.
Am thinking I might sell the 500 for what pittance I will get for it, and maybe the GTS as well, all towards the Vespa 300 HPE. I think I could be happy on one if those in New Mexico

I posted my bike on Craigslist with a ton of extras:
Spare Jcosta variator (on top of the one its running)
a madstad windscreen
the original variator and exhaust
two Givi top boxes
and enough Motul 300
for a few oil changes.

Nothing.

Just dropped it to $2500

Wondering what it will take to sell this bike? Dropped the price again and not even a nibble, I am not planning to pay someone to take it.

Options:
Keep dropping the price.

Put it on consignment if they will take it at a local Store that consigns bike ( not one scooter there at the moment ).

Donate it to a good cause. Probably Public radio in my case.

Think painting it black again would help?

Did you ever post a For Sale link here?
I don't recall seeing it.
I love that color, by the way.

Did not post here as it doesnít seem worth trying to ship anywhere so was hoping for local buyers. Guess it wouldnít hurt.
I like the color too, but itís really difficult to touch up, and I am really good at that type thing

Maybe Craigs List?
I have a search setup and viewing it often, I see them their often.
Then they disappear.

I found the ad on Craigslist....
https://denver.craigslist.org/mcy/d/englewood-why-be-normal/6919751111.html

I'm half inclined to buy it for my little brother who lives out there, then use it if I ever show up.

About the ad, I hope you're not offended, but I think the title to the ad is not going to pull in views, and also, I would suggest you add a couple of backed-up shots that show the entire scooter from each side. If a person doesn't know what an MP3 500 is, the pictures you posted won't get them closer to knowing.

Having said that, if I lived anywhere near you I'd jump on your deal in a heartbeat. As for my brother, well he has a young child so I'm thinking his wife would kill me.

You probably have a good point,
I will redo the ad, and yes, you might not be appreciated if you bought it for your brother.

There is literally no one in Santa Fe or Albuquerque that could work on it, and I really donít want to either.
So it has to go

It's unfortunate there are no dealers where you're going.
Also it looks like you are in competition for a couple of other MP3s, though they don't look to be in as good of condition, and holy cow those accessories and add-ons!

Well, it finally sold ($2160 with a ton of extras) and is off for new adventures, being pulled behind
a motorhome.
After 10 years I felt a bond with this machine. and though I had no real choice ( I had to sell it since there was no one to service it in northern New Mexico and I donít trust my own mechanical abilities)
I confess to feeling a bit sad to see it go.
Though I have not been active here for a while I feel like the time spent on the forum was great snd I got to know a lot of good people.
I guess its goodbye.

Okay! Now on to Plan B. Sounds good to me. I'd think the Santa Fe area would be a great place to ride a new GTS.

Ah, it would be indeed. More likely I will be riding the current GTS, not as fancy or powerful but still a really fun ride.

Dooglas: I believe he wants the new 300HPE with 20% more power over the GTS. Anyway, I predict a new 500 Sport is in his future.

Yes, I understood that. The 300 HPE is a modified Quasar engine. Piaggio still terms the scooter the GTS. I have seen it listed in some places as the Vespa GTS 300 HPE to stress that it is the model with the engine upgrade.
