I am the happy owner of a "new to me" 2016 Piaggio MP3 500ie Sport. I am getting used to it, and in the meantime, I am having a lot of fun. It came with just a few miles shy of 500. I am in the process of adding my first mod, a GIVI top case mount so I can attach my Givi E55 to it.

Welcome. We have the same scooter and you will enjoy it for many more miles.
The only issue I have with it is the "notch".

Welcome.

In regards to the notch, highly recommend that you get the greasing bolt so that you can keep it lubed. I tend to lube mine every 5000km, or the halfway interval between services. I think I purchased mine through Scooter West IIRC. I think it was about 10 bucks with shipping plus a grease gun and then the grease. Will save you many dollars in the long run as the bearings themself are about $200.00 for the set plus the time or labor needed to install.

Yes, you should grease those bearings. Mine were totally dry and I bought the scooter in 2016. you think they should know by now.
I started to suffer from the notch after 5,500 miles. That's when I discovered my bearings were dry. I did the "Gonzo" thing but 600 miles later... again... the notch. I moved again the bearings last weekend.
I do not think the greasing bolt is necessary. I fill a syringe that has a long Tip with grease and apply the grease like this.

Best,

I greased my bearings (AND adjusted them) when I bought it new (old stock) in 2013.
Since then maybe two more times.
No notch yet. ~43,000 miles.

Congratulations, I just joined yesterday.

There was an identical one sold on local CL by owner, in early February 2020, asked slightly over $5k.. I missed it by hours due to newcomer mistakes (before joining MV) and have been searching since.

Btw, why does NADA price over 10-years old models much lower than true market value? Northern California average cost almost double. Please advise. Thanks.

No - perhaps it's just that you've not posted anything particularly helpful. Plus that quite a lot of people have set your Avatar to be ignored...

Okay! I understand. I would like to apologize if I have said anything to offend anyone on this forum. I also have this feeling that this has a lot to do with with our misunderstanding a few months ago jimc. My apologies. As for not having anything worthwhile to say,to my defense,I have been reading the other members comments on many of the subjects in this forum and have found them more helpful and enlightening for myself. I do appreciate that you let me be a part of this forum at least for a little while. My apologies to all of you. I assure you all that I had no idea that I had offended so many people on this forum and I thank you jimc for making this problem clear to me. I hope that many of you do read this post and accept my deepest apologies!

I don't think you've been offending people recently at all! Just bear in mind that positive Karma usually gets given to those who post technically helpful tips, while negative strikes go to 'obnoxious' posts of whatever variety.

Having no roundels does NOT mean people have voted you up or down in any way - so please relax on that score.
