Far from epic, but did a strawberry run yesterday. As I'm the early riser in the family, and the closest berry farm is closed this year, decided I'd let the family sleep in and go picking myself. Not that help isn't welcome, but a) it was going to be hotter than heck later in the day, and b) the family option would deprive me of an hour on the scooter.

Soo, up early in the morning (farm opens at 7), nice cruise 20 or so miles up the east side of Lake Winnebago, which stretches 30 miles north to south. The eastern side is largely a pastoral setting vs. the west which is more heavily populated. Nice to see cows grazing along the way (though they'd moved on when I returned, intending to photograph them on the way back). Hardly a car on the road that early in the morning.

Anyway, picked a couple of flats, with a plan for loading them in the scooter....and pretty much nailed it, capacity wise. Lots frozen for the winter, strawberry cupcake, strawberry shortcake....and in a few days I won't want to see any for a bit.

Maybe I picked too many....

Guess I was thinking of your adventure because for some reason after a hot ride Thursday I wanted a Strawberry Daiquiri for some reason. Never did get one but those pictures of the strawberry's may resurrect the need.

No need to freeze them if you had put them in the pet carrier, and had jam by the time you got home.

Just sprinkle with sugar, close the hatch and hit some bumpy roads!

Nice!

The strawberry season is hot here too, but I'd have to use even more imagination to do the trip with my Triumph...

You better take advantage of the warm weather.

You will probably be putting the scooter up for the winter in another couple of weeks.

Out in the Strawberry Patch
Dave,

Great photos in the morning light. I expect this means you are
fully mobile after your leg issue. Ducking and plucking strawberries
requires some flexibility!

At our cabin up north in "Frost Bite Falls", we would go wild raspberry
picking. Great tasting raspberries usually planted years and years ago
by original settlers. You did have to make sure the wild raspberry patch
was clear of Bears. On several occasions, we had to yield to Mr Bear
gouging himself on raspberries.

Cheap shot by WLeuthold making fun of our Great Up North Weather.
This is a great guy that has to design hurricane proof homes to keep from getting blown away in Florida. Perhaps the chance of getting blown away
is worth being able to scooter ride all year.

Well, that is all I got from Frost Bite Falls Minnesota. Thanks for the pics Dave.

Hard to believe how quickly this summer is zooming by....

I couldn't help myself.

We all choose where we live (when we can knowing many of us have families and work)

I chose the heat and storms of Florida by birth.

I guess I could move but family and work keep me here, for now.

I am sure most of us are in similar circumstances.

Scooting came long after settling in Florida, but the two of them go together well.

I love riding year round. Actually, winter is often better than summer here.

Looking forward to getting together at Wisconscoot in August.

Raspberries have been very abundant here this year with all the rain. I was near Harpers Ferry WV and found these on the Maryland side of the river alongside a ride that runs along the C&O Canal. They were along the road for a 1/4 mile or more pretty much untouched because there was no place to park a CAR. MP3 slipped right in place for me to get my fill.

Just one more reason to ride a PTW.
