Hi all...first post to the forum....running a GTS 300 SS 13 plate ...just had diagnostics due to engine management light coming on when at full throttle and speedo reads 75+ throttle off and it goes off.

Dealer cleared fault be it it still happening....Scooter was running fine up until battery change a few weeks ago after it giving up whilst out on scooter.

Any help appreciated before it goes back again for a free plug-in

Check the alternator output at high revs - if above 14.6V then the regulator has failed, you will be damaging the battery and the engine management light will come on. Perhaps this is why your first battery failed...

OK, so that explains why it gave up - but the CEL coming on at high revs is a clear sign the regulator has crapped out.

Will be going back to a Dealer for a free plug-in ..see if it shows up anything new as they cleared the fault ...may be new rectifier time ..?

It could possibly be something else - but the rev test you can do yourself, surely?

Batteries donít give up while youíre out riding around. They die slow quiet deaths in the dead of night. Usually a winters night.

Have you checked the voltage regulator? You asked the question and the most knowledgeable expert here said check the VR. So check the effiní regulator.

Have you put a voltmeter on the battery to check voltages yet?

On a vehicle with a computer Step ONE to ANY electrical or running issue is to test the battery and the CHARGING system. Have you done that? If not, you're chasing your own tail right now.
