At what point is a scooter not a scooter anymore?

I really like the X-ADV, but it's so high in front of the seat, twin forked, and swing armed, that it strikes me as an automatic transmission motorcycle.

Again, I really like it, but it doesn't seem very "scootery".

If you think that doesn't look like a scooter see the Honda NM-4

Suddenly the Helix doesn't look ugly anymore.

Agree, and I owned a Helix. I just don't get all the sharp angles and protruding noses on so many of today's bikes. You can sleek up a bike all you want, but it's still going to have a big, irregular shaped lump jutting out into the airstream.

Wonder why Honda doesn't upgrade the Silver Wing with the X-ADV or similar engine and running gear, but keep the low step over height? Bigger engine and modern electronics might sell more scooters in the US.

I keep waiting for the day Honda puts a dual clutch transmission in a 300cc Rebel. Then takes the engine and puts it in a small ADV scooter. It will change the face of transportation. The fake tank in the NC-700 was a good start but the engine is so uninspired it hasn't made a dent in sales.

And there you have it. The rest of the world gets ADV scooters in various sizes and we don't.
