I bought this rack off eBay. The seller said genuine Vespa/OEM. But it doesn't look like the pictures I see online. It looks more like a Faco to me. I don't mind, the price was fair, I am more just curious what I got. It does say Vespa on it. I added the red felt to keep it from touching the paint.

Not a FACO. Mine has two rods at the bottom.

Doesn't the Piaggio model require drilling, IIRC?

Definitely not OEM, OEM requires drilling the horncast, has suction cup like on lower part.

It could be OEM. But it looks more like an FA Italia rack than anything else that I can think of. FA Italia is sturdier and the chrome is better than the OEM stuff, so you didn't do bad if that's what it is.

If it has Vespa stamped on, it’s an original Vespa/Piaggio product, but that does not tell you just what it was designed for, and some are actually ‘factory install’ and that does make a difference, st least for the LX, LXV.

Yea, it looks just like FA Italia but it has Vespa etched into it and that matches what is on my OEM crash bars. I wonder if it came stock on some earlier GTS, special edition, what have you. Interesting, thanks all!

Looks the exact same as my FA rack in black. That's what it is. BTW, CDwise told recently of that one screw coming out on her hubbies rack-loctite now! He bungied it back to get home from a long ride.

I use 1/8" neoprene plumbers foam cut to size on my strap. Sold by the roll in a box @ supply houses-mines 2" wide and I use it all the time for shop jobs.

I am using adhesive backed felt right now, like for craft projects. Your idea might be better though.

Closed cell foam so water proof. It's great for spots like top box installs. I've used most of mine to reseal my Kawasaki Mule glove boxes which began to leak after several years.
