Looks an awfully lot like the first scooter I ever owned to me. A 1963 Honda 50.

Agreed, it does look a lot like that. I guess I missed the Honda bikes as I started out with 200 CC Vespas and Lambrettas and it's also what everyone I know that rode scoots also owned. No surprise as most of my friends that rode were Mods back then and well the Honda would not be something you would see a Mod on.

I think that they sold over 26 Million of the original models.

Not bad going.

Although my PX150 is still my favorite I couldn’t be happier with the cub. Only complaint is you have to drop down to third going up a hill. Hard to maintain 40 mph on an incline. 4t vs 2t I guess. Other then that is awesome.

That's a mean lookin' machine. If they sold them in Canada, I'd have one in an instant.
The closest thing here is the SYM Cub (SYMBA 100) and for $3000.00 CDN, a real steal.

Looks way too much like a moped and for this reason I pass. If I ever consider buying scooter other then Vespa it will be Moto Guzzi 750cc scooter, assuming it will make to production:

Passenger seat is an option if I recall. I heard a rumor that a motorcycle shop in Newport News, VA has 2 or 3 of the new Cubs on the floor. Strange as I thought they were a limited release. I was gonna stop and look, because I passed by the dealership, but I was trying to beat some rain.

That is pretty cool. I know I may be biased as I have one but the BMW C650 IS a good "scooter" . Handles well, has a few luxuries and IMHO does not look like ass.

I think the future looks promising to us scooter riders. Funny when I retire in the future I will probably move to a motorcycle from the C650 as I have it as I do so much heavy urban riding I do not want to deal with gears. Modern motorbikes at least many of them making shifting pretty idiot proof especially BMW which is what I will probably go ito. So I'll have a Vespa, a Ural and a BMW bike as opposed to what I have now. Just replace the C650 with a BMW touring bike.

FIWW this Honda also reminds me of a moped, and I have a dislike for mopeds and always have. I also am not a fan of 150's though have absolutely nothing against those that are. I just need more torque under my ass than they offer.

Bring one over from the US. Usually isn't an issue to import to/from vehicles between the US and Canada. People do so all the time depending on who has the better price deal.

Never seen one live, but I was able to sit on one at a local motorcycle fair at March.

It felt super comfy....around here, where even many paved roads are not that good and gravel roads are plenty, this would be a handy companion for local rides.

Sadly, I believe it will not sell here... the original Cup never sold either. There are a few new Monkeys around though, as Finland was a "sales peak oddity" for the orginial 50cc for many years... and now those boys are adults.

As why it won't sell here - if you'll replace the letters HD by a large Japanese or German street bike (... including the mighty GS) brand, that's the Finnish two-wheeler tratidion in a nuttshell. Got to have more than 1000cc between your legs and ride no less than 1000 km trips, the rest is for wusses... and all that haven't really changed too much: now that the economy has treated us well the few past years, the big and expensive ones sell again...

Hey RR

How do you identify an extrovert Finn?

When they talk to you, they look at your shoes not theirs?

That is not too far from the reality....by tradition Finns are not un-polite and do show hospitality, but the approach to social interaction appears reserved.

A funny thing is that Finns can be socially comfortable without small talk - a thing that drives many foreigners crazy. There's a joke about this too:

Two Finnish men, Jukka and Pekka, go ice fishing. They fish in silence for a long while and eventually Jukka asks "So how are things?" Pekka doesn't answer and they continue fishing in silence for some more hours. Then Jukka asks, "So how is the family?" At this Pekka gets angry, stands, up and shouts "Did we come here to talk or to fish?!

Had a Honda 90 that we used as a hunting transporter. Worked great at getting two of use into the woods and then out dragging a deer behind us.

The other thing to be said about the Honda Cub (and the Symba, for that matter). They are shifties in an era when shifty scooters have almost disappeared. And practically speaking - they are auto clutch shifties with a motorcycle style foot shift, not the awkward left hand shift and clutch that Italian scooter makers made famous/infamous.

I very much doubt that they will get discontinued.

As of 2017, 100 million Cubs had been sold worldwide.

Probably a 0% chance of this bike being discontinued.

Ever.
