I'm thinking about replacing the 20/20 stock carb that is currently on my 1981 P200, with a rebuilt 24/24 carb.

Can I use the same carb box or does the box for a 24/24 needa larger hole? If so, is there any reason I can't just enlarge the hole on the 20/20 box using my trusty Dremel?

yeah, just match the gasket to the carb, then use that to see how much further you need to open the box. open it up, no sweat.

SEARCH here, the answer is in there... somewhere!
Dremel is no use, as internal channels & holes all differ in diameter.
Also Remember there are numerous versions of the 24/24 (auto-lube or not etc).

He's just talking about the carb box, no worries on internal channels or diameter. So long as he doesn't hit the autolube oil channel, which he won't, he'll be fine. He's just wanting to open the carb opening at the bottom of the box.

Hey Fatbear, this is Chris the guy who bought Scottís scoot. I ordered a Sip Road 2.0 and 24/24 today and was just wondering the same thing about my 20/20 box and air filter. Iíve been having a blast with my scoot (daughter named her Phoebe). It was great meeting you and I hope you, Scott and I can take a ride sometime when you make it back to Florence.

Hey Chris and LuckyBear! I don't know the answer to this. I think you'd be fine. Maybe calling David at ScooterMercato or Robot at ScooterWest. Or you can bring your scooter over to my place and we can compare them. I'll pull mine off Ruby, which is a 24/24. But I can't see the air box changing because the states wanted a more efficient carb. Autolube lines and all should be the same...

I do know on Phoebe I ported the carb box to match the engine case, and also the carb. So if you can keep the carb box... That's going to be a fun bike with a 24/24 and easier exhaust. It's as fast as a 24/24 now with the porting that's been done. Exciting!!!

And welcome to ModernVespa!

Hey Chris ... glad to see your post and am really pleased that you are enjoying Phoebe. You've got a good one there. Yes, it would be great if the three of us can meet up for a ride.

When it comes to the 24/24 carb, I think that qascooter and sdjohn have the right idea... take off the old one and see if the new one fits. If it doesn't, do whatever it takes to make it fit.
