In the SS180/GS160 parts book, it shows different part numbers for the rear shock damper.

Does anyone know how they are different? Is one longer than the other? Are the springs different? I ask because I have found an NOS rear damper, but the seller says it fits both GS or SS. I plan to install it on an SS.

never noticed before.

looking at the parts manual, the lower housing is different but valving is the same. so maybe different preload?

Thanks for the response. I'm not concerned about minor differences in the internals or spring preload. I just hope that they are interchangeable fit-wise regarding bolt in and overall length. It seems that they are.
