What a pain in the ass.
2 ups to give...
Robot, for the tip to use a long needle-nose to pop the cap off.
Haynes manual, for saying to remove the battery cover so as to get to the clip that holds the wire.
Still a pain in the ass. At least it's only every 6000 or so miles.

Well done, yeah it is a PITA. Next time, install a iridium plug and you won't have to change it anymore. Don't forget to put a wee bit of copper anti- seize on the threads.

Todays logic for spark plugs is, if it is running well don't change them.
Bet I have 30,000 or 40,000 miles on the plugs in my MP3 500.

Not quite sure why everyone thinks changing a spark plug on the GTS bikes is such a pain. It's easy. Ok, when you do it for the first time it may seem a slow job. Second time around it's so easy peasy. Having the right tools is essential, and that's not a conventional spark plug wrench. If you really want to know what a pain in the spark plug changing butt is, then look at some motorcycles where you have to spend an hour removing luggage, racks, seat, petrol tank, then some. It can take two hours to just replace two spark plugs on some Suzukis, Yamahas, etc..lol. Sad but true!

But well done to the OP.

I had a tad over 7500 on the original one. The electrode was quite worn. I can def feel a difference with the new one.

I was basically comparing it to the Stella.

Change it when you adjust the valves. Pleace your center stand on a couple scraps 2x12s and unbolt the top of the rear shocks. When the head swings up, the plug is easier to get to.

Just putting the scooter on the side stand so some weight is on the back wheel gives you a little more space to get your hand in there.

Replace it with an Iridium plug next time and see if that makes a difference.
