Hi all (aimed at ozzies),

Who knows the best websites to buy parts, oil, spares etc for the Australian market?

I have moved to Sydney recently and just picked up a PX150 and need to get kitted out with the usual.

Any suggestions would be great!

Thanks

GPS stock a limited range of stuff and are expensive. I usually order from Europe from SIP or Beedspeed.

That is true to a point Bob... it's probably fairer to say they have a broad range of stuff that is often not in stock! That and the world's worst website! Helps if you have the Piaggio part numbers... which I get from the SIP "OEM Numbers (for the purpose of comparison)" below the description. Also I have found stuff that is actually cheaper there from time to time. It's a bit unfair because you pay GST on his parts and not on SIP's (unless it's over $1000).
But the best bit about GPS Imports is the very fast delivery (usually next day for me in Vic). And you can send them a message and they'll help you out.

Having said that, most of my parts come from SIP or Scooter-Center.

Thanks guys. Just need to get oil for now. Do you reckon these will be ok for a PX150?

I don't know about those oils but I just grab whatever 2T scooter oil from Supercheap Auto and get this gear oil from there too.

Yep I usually buy the same one as Bob... but the 10w50 you have there is wrong. You want a 2 stroke oil, that's 4 stroke. Generally I have bought Penrite semi-synthetic (now around $21 ish a litre) but recently I've found a full synthetic for only a teensy bit more! It's here - $89.95 including free (and quick) delivery.

Or an even cheaper and higher quality 2t oil is Anglomoil semisynthetic 2t - $38 for 5 litres.

I normally get it from Thomastown.
They donít advertise or supply the big chains.. just supply from their depots. Thatís why itís cheaper. And they make it in house - better 😁
Theyíve been around since the 70ís and still going strong..

I generally get mine from ebay and order a few at a time. copper washers make a good alternative to fibre if you cant get one. recently i have been playing with nitirle rubber and a flat wazher. seems to be going ok so far

as for oil, you can use SAE30 or SAE *w30. as long as its mineral based and not synthetic - synthetic & your clutch wont thank you -

10w30 and SAE30 are effectively the same at operating temperature, SAE30 is good from about 40f upwards and will be "thicker" in winter temperatures. whereas 10w30 5w30 etc are designed for "easier cold starts" the W in oil rating denotes Winter.

Thanks, so synthetic oil is no good for the gearbox? Only good for engine oil?

synthetic is no good for the (standard) cork plates you find on vespas.

synthetic as in 2 stroke oil is definitely recommended..
