Hello!

I'm new to Vespas and this forum. Hoping you all can help me with an issue...

A few months ago I picked up a new 2020 Primavera 50 for my girlfriend and I. Perfect for the city where parking spots are scarce. Fun scooter. Generally.
Generally, because there is a very consistent problem with it:
Everytime I start it "fresh", get on it, and twist the throttle, it will go for about 10 seconds just like normal, but then lose power entirely. If I then kill the engine and start it again, it works perfectly fine for the duration of the ride.
I contacted my dealer/service department and they took a look at it. They say it's because I need to let it idle for about 30 seconds before I start going. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to help either, though. I've tried letting it sit with just the ignition engaged, then idling for various amounts of time, and none of it really seems to make a consistent difference.

Curious.. Is that something anyone else has experienced? It gets a little dicey when I pull this scooter onto the road with cars zooming by and it suddenly loses all power.. Not exactly the quickest thing in the first place.

Thank you very much for your kind responses!

To rule out a "stratified water in gas issue", try adding around 2 tablespoons of Iso-Heet to the gas tank when refilling.

Hi folks -

Bumping this back up as the weather is improving and I actually want to get some use out of the scooter.

The Vespa has been in the shop since I posted this.
Apparently theyíre waiting for a software patch from Piaggio that fixes something. A patch did eventually come, but didnít fix anything.

Is there anyone else out here that has a 2020 Primavera 50?
If so, do you have the same problem?

I tried the fuel additives but that didnít solve anything, unfortunately.

I replied to your PM.
I have not had that issue at all with my 2020 Primavera 50.
I hope you get it figured out soon.
Cheers!

Think it has something clogging the fuel system.

Apparently the 2020 Primavera 50 is fuel injected. Have the fuel pump and the fuel pressure been checked?

I let mine idle for awhile. Then I turn the throttle. If it doesnít go, I let it idle more. I only have to do this once when I first start out. After that, i can turn it off and on multiple times without having to let it idle. It never loses power.
Good luck from Winnipeg!

I have the same issue. My dealer said to let it idle before, it didn't work either.

Have you resolved this ?

Thanks!
