I have a 2014 GTS 300 Super Sport. it has recently started cutting out. This happens at any time. Particularly scary at 120Km down the highway.

It just goes dead!!! It has been to the dealer twice, in fact got it back today and they say can't find anything wrong!!! STILL CUTS OUT.

40000Km on the clock. It is my daily commute.

Any help would be appreciated.

If the dealer can't figure it out, perhaps it's time to find another mechanic or shop. These machines are not as simple as they used to be as they are computer driven. You can work thru this on your own if you have the time, but you would have to figure out if it is spark or fuel that is cutting out. Sorry I can't be of more help.

Wiggle the fuel injector and connector when its idling and see if it hesitates or stalls.

Clatter
Some in the UK had a problem with Stator that would make the scooter cut our without any warning.

Check that.

As mentioned
The connector should not wiggle.
My wifeís 250 had a cutting out problem Ė the fuel injector connector that attaches to the injector itself was loose and other wise broken, it wiggled, on my scooter with the same injector it was firm. Replaced the injector, expensive $100, corrected the problem.

Had that problem with my 2010 GTS when it had ~30k kms on the clock. Took the dealer several attempts to get a fault to show up in diagnostics. Turned out to be the fuel injector. Put in a new one, problem solved.

I can imagine, as your GTS is your daily driver, that this intermittent starting/cutting out problem must be rather inconvenient. I had an intermittent starting issue with my 2015 GTS (thankfully it never cut out while running). In the end, a new throttle body/ECU solved the problem. I was able to get error codes using the techniques in the forum topic below, but the delivery and setup of the equipment takes awhile (I was on vacation at the time). If you work and are pressed for time, a dealer with the Piaggio PADS system may be able to help.

Kill switch
Fuel injector
Bad daily key.

Have you tried the master key?

Surely the key RFID is only needed to start the bike? The ECU stops looking for it once the engine is running.

Based on my samples not necessarily. Daily key can be a menace sometimes, we call it corrupted.

Check Spark plug wire too. Especially the end at the plug.
Wiggle that but donít shock yourself.

Make sure to look at the injector connector also. I had one the pins where spread to far to make good contact all the time.

I doubt a fuel injector will prevent the engine from cranking. I suggest bypassing the kill switch. Or do you not have kill switches in your region?

Tell the shop to try swapping out the ECU with one of the other scoots in their shop. It is easy to do and reprogram using the master key.
