Guys/Ladies

I bought all the stuff to retrofit the 2020 HPE LED headlight on my 2018 GTS and it just doesnít work. After installing the headlight, I canít make the headlamp rim work on it.

What am I missing, hereís the parts list.

The page you posted states that the parts will fit a GTS from 2019 onward. Since your model is older, it doesnít fit. Looks like the headlamp is not a model made to retrofit a pre-2019 GTS, but is a spare part for the hpe versions.

Scooterwest has a unit that is for the older GTS models. Just watched their install video the other day. Appears straight forward, and if you have a new bike, you can add running light with simple wiring

I watched the video on their site where Robot installs their unit into an older bike. Looked completely straight forward

Okay, that isn't the LED headlight made to work with older GTS models.

This one is:

And here's the video with Robot explaining it all for you (along with a cheaper option):

I passed up bidding on a HL assy on ebay from a HPE scooter that was being parted out @ 4,100 miles. The seller started it at $75 plus $38 shipping and in the end I'd have been biding against the one other bidder. It worked but was used plus nobody on this forum answered my question as to if that unit was a straightforward install or not. The unit from SIP is too high considering shipping, etc..
Honestly, I don't want one @ a $200 entry fee anyway.

the LED headlight unit with the cast aluminum body that fits in the old GTS is not a Piaggio part. I have seen them, and they seem to be fairly well made, but I don't know if they are DOT approved or not. There seems to be one or two companies making them, and they are popping up for sale everywhere.
The OEM headlight assembly for the HPE does fit in the non HPE GTS, but you need to make some modifications to make it fit and work. It's not plug and play, but it's fairly simple. I've got one installed in my GT 200, but it took someone else coming over and looking the assembly over to figure out how to make it fit without destroying the bottom of the speedometer. .

Thanks for expanding the information base.
I had remembered your saying the install required a mod ("making" a slot?) that might preclude some owners from pulling off the switch-up to the LED HL units. I had previously looked at your LED HL unit on scooterpartsco.com as well. For the record, they are the better priced unit which was my reference to the SIP LED HL that I made above.
For now, I'm sticking with a brighter Phillips H4.
General comparison wise on HL's: My new Lincoln nautilus has LED HL's and while they are a VG HL they are not as good as the Zenon HL's on my X3 BMW, all IMO of course.
