Between a big case of the flu and the cold - it has been too long!

I always use a Top Tier fuel - which costs no more per gal.

….get back out there !

OS: Glad you're recovered…know how rough that is.

Yes, thought a bit about all this Top Tier stuff…luckily, my "home" gas stop has the good stuff.

And, yes, they hand the pump to me, even in Jersey.

You don't raise your pet carrier up with the gas cap so you don't get fuel in the pet carrier?

I've mostly used a 90 octane non-ethanol in my 2020 Liberty 150 (400 miles so far) per the dealer. He said if non-ethanol isn't available, use best premium possible. What gas do you normally use?

In the Vespas, I always use premium, 93 octane in my area.

I look for Shell stations and use them whenever convenient, but any brand will do.

I ride a lot so the fuel doesn't stay in the tanks for long, so ethanol has never been an issue.

I use 93 or better, usually Shell premium. Always Top Tier.
Yeah, all the manuals of scooters and motorcycles sold around here say to use ethanol free gas - but sales would be "0" if 10% ethanol was blowing up engines in Ohio.
No one pays a bit of attention to the ethanol free fairy tale in new rides of any make or model!

Interesting! I've stopped to fuel up a rental car in NJ but never thought to think what would happen if I had to do it on a Vespa. Do you ever get an attendant who insists on fueling, or do they always just let you do it?

Whoa…that is old-school. Haven't seen something like that in the States (at least, one that was working) in the proverbial dog's age.

That's why it's nice to come on holiday in Italy, nothing is built to look ... everything has remained old style.
PS: what is the "dog's age" ..?

Now that were headed into a full blown gasoline "discussion", try google for "gasoline is a frangible fuel"?

I use 89 for 2-cycles as Stihl states and 91/93 for Vespa and 87 for all the rest and buy the cheapest juice I can find. A local station right near the turn for the Corp lake, now has pure gasoline for the marine trade but I'll never pay 30 cents more than premium for it in my PTW's as I use premium and it's 87.

Not when I have a gas container of gasoline in my garage. I hardly ever leave home without a full tank.

No it was not.
Pharmacist said flu shots are a best guess - often based on last year's strain.
My illness was not fun - but have had it a lot worse. So maybe did some good.

I got the senior flu shot and had no flu when others around me were puking their days through the joyous holiday season.. meanwhile i did get the head cold from hell that involves a continuous cough, blowing yer nose enough to justify buying Kleenex stocks and had me googling what various colors of phlegm mean?
Yesterday I opened my kleenex to show my wife how proud I was to have graduated from icky brown crud to a bright yellow version and she got ticked off as she does not like to look at what I cough up? The color actually means something. I'm at that stage where you know you'll live but not sure if the damned crud will ever leave your body...
The throw ups i avoided came from our AL 4 yr old, the cough until the cows come home crap came from our TN 4 yr old.
So answer is, it kept me from the flu so far, not a cold which is probably bacterial at this point not a virus, based on my kleenex lying here beside me.

There an old cemetery on our land, mostly unattended except for me mowing it with a bush hog now and then, it's maybe a mile from the house. Our grandaughter's sometimes ask to "go see the dead baby" which means a trip back to see the old tombstones, two are a baby that apparently died during the flu epidemic of 1918, also an adult similar dates.
FWIW, I had a not so great neighbor some years ago who buried his son there after a MC accident. His house burned and he decided he was moving somewhere and dug up the kid and moved away with the body too.
Flu deaths here in KY this year.

I think they mostly guessed wrong as to what strain to vaccinate against this year. Wife is a nurse and at the hospital it’s mandatory to get the flu shot. You can’t refuse. Her and every person in her department got the flu. Go figure.

I do have to say though, if you get sick RUN to the doctor to get a prescription for Tamiflu. After my wife got sick, two days later I woke up and felt it coming. Within 3 hours I was at the Urgent Care, then I started the Tamiflu. Man, it was amazing. After a day and a half it had me stabilized, and after day 3 I wasn’t even sick anymore.

The jury is still out on Tamiflu. It does reduce the duration of symptoms but the manufacturers claims of reduced severity and complications is actively disputed.

I'm fairly certain they can't legally say that and sell it in the US. They can tell you not to use E85.

We have no option in South Africa - all petrol contains ethanol.
I use 95 octane unleaded as I live at 4 400 ft.

I recently filled from solid yellow light for $7.

I didn't up to that point, because that station's pumps worked the way they should: now I raise the "carrier" as a matter of course, especially since they changed the pumps to a system which requires a two-handed operation for PTWs (not the case for other vehicles); what's shown in the photo is from about eight months ago.

May also be prudent to monitor the Wuhan coronavirus.

Tracking Statistics

Walmart sells N95 masks, protective gloves, snorkel goggles, and of course toilet paper. Shelf life for cans of Vienna sausages and turkey spam is around 2 years.

What can I do to protect myself and family? (one opinion)

"The best thing to do I think is honestly prepare to stay in your house isolated for 2-4 weeks (or whatever the total exposure-infected-cleared time is with your local area getting ) with a disrupted supply chain and electrical grid. Food for humans/pets, electrolytes and water, alternative cooking heat supplies, true HEPA filter air purifiers, spritz bleach sprays, non-electronic entertainment, supportive over the counter medicine (anti-fever, anti-vomiting, etc) ... Maybe cloth curtains to keep air exchange limited between indoor/outdoors and bedrooms and floors."

Letter from my gas company today said I need to grow 27 trees to "balance my CO2 impact."
Come spring, I'll be digging 13 holes - as I already have 14 trees around my house.
(my daughter says if I cut back on my burrito intake I can probably get by with 25 trees)
I'll tell you right now - I ain't raking leaves from 27 trees. They can just stay there. (in a billion years they'll return to oil again)
