Changing belt on my MP-3 250.
Is it necessary to purchase the Buzzetti locking tool for this job?
I purchased the factory service manual but it is not much help.
Thanks in advance!

![]() makes it easier than trying to rig something up to hold the vari so you can torque the nut to spec.
don't forget to get a new nut as on the 250's they are 1 time use nuts. |
![]() OAD, with all my respect, but what make you think so? Have I missed something?

Steve 07 MP-3. 250 Search Youtube for Vespa GTS Belt Change, engine is very similar to MP3 250. I started with the Buzzetti, its a little weak, but it does work. I purchased one from someone in the UK, that is welded steel that is rock solid. It will last forever... It's been to long, don't remember who I got it from but it was home made in his shop. Maybe someone here will remember who it is, but expensive with shipping to US. Keith, Marietta, GA |

The only time I've encountered galling is when using stainless steel nuts and bolts. |

![]() Well, yep, those "self-locking" nuts with plastic inserts are dedicated for single-use. Luckily, my 250cc's nut was of other kind... Unluckily, a truck solved any questions with my 250cc
