![]() Spallanzani's doctors have isolated the coronavirus
The announcement was made by the Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza: "Many more chances to understand and study". The results will be shared with the international community Coronavirus has been isolated from Spallanzani. The news was given by the Minister of Health, Roberto Speranza, speaking precisely in the institute for infectious diseases in the capital where the two Chinese tourists who are currently the only people tested positive for the virus on Italian soil are hospitalized. Italy is the first country in Europe to do so. This is the result obtained by virologists less than 48 hours after the diagnosis of positivity for the first two patients in Italy. "It is a fundamental step" explain the researchers "that will allow us to refine existing diagnostic methods and set up new ones""Isolating the virus will allow us to improve the response to the coronavirus emergency, to learn more about the mechanisms of the epidemic and to prepare the most appropriate measures" said the scientific director of the Spallanzani hospital, Giuseppe Ippolito. The availability in the laboratories of the new pathogen, moreover, "will allow to study the mechanism of the disease for the development of treatments and the development of the vaccine. The partial sequence of the virus isolated in the Spallanzani laboratories, called 2019-nCoV / Italy- INMI1 has already been deposited in the GenBank database, and soon the virus will also be made available to the international scientific community ". https://www.agi.it/cronaca/spallanzani_isolato_coronavirus-6993578/news/2020-02-02/ |

![]() Katherine Hepburn went to Africa to film the African Queen with Humphrey Bogart and Lauren Bacall, who came along for fun.
Nearly everyone became ill from something in the water, but Bogart & Bacall didn’t. Supposedly because they were drunk the entire time. I suggest we all get hammered, and stay hammered for the duration. It’s the only way to be safe.

![]() stickyfrog wrote: If you are freaking out about corona virus but you didn't get a flu shot, you've got it backwards. Corona virus has killed 132 people so far and all in China with 6000 world wide. Most of the deaths, like with the annual flu, were elderly or people with complicating health problems. By comparison this year's flu season has killed 8,200 people with 15 million cases and that is just in the US. I'm not saying Corona does not warrant a strong public-health response but a lot of deaths could be prevented since many people that get the annual flu did not get a flu shot. 61,000 (sixty one THOUSAND) flu deaths in the US alone last year, and it's business as usual, with anti-vaxxers not slacking up a bit. A couple hundred corona virus deaths, while tragic for the victims and families, is a rounding error. So far, novocorona virus has a fatality rate of about 3%, and that is in vulnerable population categories. |
![]() Totally unconcerned about Corona Virus. Right now, my immediate concern is Norovirus. My seven year old woke up about 44 hours ago vomiting... Vomiting continued for several hours and was accompanied by diarrhea. Now he’s totally fine - it’s like nothing happened! The incubation period for Norovirus is around 24-48 hours. So far my wife and I are fine. I bleached the life out of my bedding, clothing, and house today. Hand sanitizer does nothing to Norovirus; nor do most cleaning products (including Lysol wipes and even many hospital-grade cleaners). Rigorous hand washing and bleach are the most effective cleaners for humans and surfaces. In any event, my fate should be known my morning.

![]() Vaccinated against pneumonia is not 100% certainty you will not contract it as my doctor told me. Each year I get the flu shot and every now and then I get the flu. Like the flu pneumonia comes in many forms both bacterial and viral.
