I hate injections, but didn't even know they'd jabbed me!

Achy arm (still a bit).

Not sure when I get my first Microsoft update?
I am still with Win 7...

I have an appointment for my first dose of vaccine today at noon. I want to say it's for Moderna.

Got my first Moderna shot y'day!

Honestly assumed it wouldn't be until June or July but was able to get on a standby list.

And so it's official: apparently I count as "old".

Moderna jab 2 for me on Saturday. Ms Miguel was hurting for a couple days after her second jab. I hope I fair better. Miguel

I agree Attila. I'm not worried but I do have a non-critical, non life-threatening outpatient surgery 3 days later which is really the only reason I hope I fair better than Ms Miguel.

Left for my noon appointment at 11:30. Took the exit at 11:47. At 1pm, I made it into Fair Park, where the Drive-thru vaccination center is set up. Finally got the vaccination at 2:17pm. Was released to head out at 2:32.

For as long as it took, they really do have an efficient system set up. There's just a lot of people trying to get the vaccine.

Forgot to mention, they ended up giving me Pfizer. Not sure why the appointment email said Moderna, but the actual dosage was Pfizer.

Great to hear that vaccinations are going forward!

We are still just in the beginning of that journey, quite a bit of challenges in getting as much of the stuff as planned. Or to precise, the main challenge at the moment is a combination of getting enough vaccine and knowing the amounts beforehand. Say, if you'll get a shot of Moderna now, it'll be a small consolation to have only Pfizer available the next time.

Most of the healthcare professionals dealing with COVID patients are now vaccinated, just first groups of the most senior citizens on-going... and an increasing shouting competition of which groups of people should get a short-cut from the line

I'll guess the earlier estimates for ~June-August are still valid for me...time to renew that Netflix subscription and postpone the new riding jacket...

When I got home last night, my wife told me that the County Health Department tweeted at 2pm (when I was queueing up for my 5G transponder implantation), that the wait time was 5 minutes. I laughed, 'cause the wait time was no where near 5 minutes. My entire wait was 2h 45m.

With the increasing amount of variants emerging around the world, rather than finger pointing, it would be helpful if they were identified by their initials. The English variant becomes EV, the Russian variant RV and Slobbovian Union variant SUV. However there may be confusion here with the Mexican variant.

I feel lucky. I was in charge of setting up one of the stations where the hospital where I work distributes the vaccine. We did take special care to get the work flow correct for the nurses and patients. When my turn finally came up, my total wait time for both doses combined (21 days apart) was 50 minutes. This included the 15 minute observation after each dose.

Watching the folks move through the process made me think that Henry Ford would be proud or our assembly line.

Dallas County is efficient, they just have a lot of people going through.

The drive-thru tent has 18-20 bays. Each bay holds three vehicles. They have teams of 2-3 per vehicle - one checking QR codes and handling paperwork, the other doing the vaccination. The only aspect that slows things down is when there are multiple people per vehicle.

From what various news sources have said, they're doing about 12k per day.

Doubly, nay triply good news locally...Infection rates are dropping, Wisconsin is amongst the best in the country for getting the vaccine out, and, more personally, my wife, who's been feeling far more desperate than me to get it (but hasn't qualified) is likely going to soon after some pressure from her boss on the County health department (she's a library worker).

We're not celebrating like Texas and Mississippi by dropping mask requirements and opening everything up, but hopefully soon.

Kaiser Permanente is an American health care organization (HMO). It was founded by the American auto and shipbuilder Henry Kaiser during WW2 to serve the workers in his shipyards.

11 hours later, my shoulder is hurting at the injection site and a bit inflamed but no other symptoms, yet.

I forgot to bring my card showing I'd had shot #1 so they gave me a new card showing I'd gotten both shots (Moderna). I think it best to keep this card in a safe because it may become a "passport" to get into certain venues, possible flying on commercial aircraft, in the future.

BTW, the volunteers and professional staff were super friendly and helpful. Big smiles and friendly faces. It helped to keep it all a positive experience. I thanked them all for working to get us safe and they were very appreciative of the feedback too.

And unlike Jimc's visit to Kaiser Permanente, the health systems I went to, Dignity Health Care, did not give out memorabilia like stickers and bags but I was just happy to be walking out with the vaccine in my arm.

I'll let you know how I feel tmw.

Be safe!

got the one and done Saturday at the VA , no issues. the VA here was AWESOME, I caluculated the amount of folks they processed per hour. they had 12 shot techs doing 1 every 2 min so 480 per hour, we were 1 hr and 45 min in line and they had at least that in line when we walked out after ours. The VA only could do it from 8-1 or until they ran out. Wish I could find out total given.

My experience as well. Was expecting more of a tense/somber environment, and it was anything but. Maybe helps that it was relatively early in the process. It would be interesting to peek in after they've been running for another month or two....anyway, it was appreciated.

Fudmucker: That really sucks. For all of the concern, anxiety and importance of this, for that many people to have been duped is beyond criminal.

So glad things are going relatively better for most of us...

Up here in Canada it's still a disaster. No one under 80 that is not a health care provider has any clues as to when they will get vaccinated.

My experience with the VA was also completely positive. They were very organized with appointments, minimized wait time, and were very professional. Can't say enough good things about how they handled this.

26 hours later...
I had an uncomfortable night. My joints and muscles hurt, I got cold and I couldn't sleep till 4AM (but that isn't unusual for me). All these things happened to Ms Miguel as well after her second shot. I finally got up at 11AM. My arm still hurts but the flu-like symptoms are subsiding. I should be fine by dinner time I hope.

Best

Apart from the occasional 'flu jab, my last vaccine was for TB - as a teenager.

The distribution of vaccine her is haphazard to say the least.
There is supposed to be a priority list that you log-in to get in the queue.
It doesn't work well - even if you are computer literate.

My wife has had trouble getting scheduled for the vaccination.
She signed up with the County the day after I did, and hasn't heard back from them.
She signed up through her employer (the local Catholic diocese), and hasn't heard back from them.
She signed up with the local Cherokee clinic (she's part Cherokee, and has her Tribal membership card). They said they'd get back to her. No word as of yet.
Every time she'd check the CVS and Walgreen's websites, the would be all booked up.

Then Saturday morning, she was up early (5am), and saw that someone recommended checking the pharmacies websites at 6am. So she gave it a shot.

She now has an appointment for this Wednesday, at 6:30pm.

So for those of you in the USA who are having trouble getting scheduled, check with the pharmacies websites around 6AM local time.

Got my first poke on Wednesday of last week and on the drive home I hit the wall of exhaustion side effect. Thought for sure I was going to fall asleep at a red light. Made it home fine, was exhausted until midday the next day. Arm was a little sore for 2 days. Aside from that it was fine. FEMA seems to know how to deal with this kinda stuff (that's who's running the show here anyways).

Second one is on the 24th. Can't wait. So over this.
