Is anyone using gasket sealer instead of a gasket for stock Piaggio cases? Just wondering if it would guarantee the avoidance of the 'oil sucker' issue? I think I have this condition on one of my 200 engines, and before I order a case gasket for a rebuild, is it worth me using a good sealer instead of a paper gasket?
When ive wanted to go overboard Iíve used the SIP premium gasket set as is, no extra sealer.
For my everyday normal builds I just use the paper gasket but add semi liquid gasket sealer (motoseal, yamabond etc) on just the lower half of the engine cases, the selector box gasket and the oil drain bolt gasket. That way thereís an extra sealer where gear oil could leak out when the scoots sitting. So far folks have appreciated that my builds dont drip gear oil for a very long time.
I used to put sealer around the entire case gasket but that just made things messy/ tore too many gaskets if I had to get in the cases again.
Threebond/Yamabond/Hondabond. Pretty sure it's the same stuff as Dirko as well that the Germans seem to like. I never dripped gear oil before but was always anxious that the crankcase may be leaking air to a greater or lesser degree. I find that Threebond is horrible to use but great stuff.
