I'm looking for advices,

I was checking the scooter yesterday when I noticed excessive oil around the left "sliding locking device".

Each time I activate the roll lock, I see oil coming out of it. It has never happened before and the right side one does not leak at all.
My question: Is there something I can do to prevent this part from leaking or I need to replace it...period?

Here is the culprit after I cleaned it.

The parts diagram only shows the complete assembly.

I would bet that it's just an o-ring that is leaking. If it were me I'd try to disassemble it and see if I could replace the rubber. If not, then you replace it.

part#601727 Not inexpensive.

If it's leaking, it won't be long before the tilt-lock starts beeping at you because of low fluid.

Yes, I'm not using the roll lock right now to avoid having this lovely horn signal going off.

Any idea if it's easy to disassemble ? I saw some for sale on e-bay for about $80 otherwise.

Don't buy used, you don't know how old they are and could do the same thing shortly.

$68 at www.motorcyclespareparts.eu plus $35 shipping. Buy some other stuff to make it worth the shipping. It's $35 flat rate. So load up on spares.
I bought crash bars, windscreen and other stuff and shipping was only $35.

The only permanent fix is to replace the unit, BUT you can minimize the wear on the tilt lock system by minimizing its use.

In other words, use the centerstand as much as possible and unlock the tilt lock before turning off the bike.

This will help prolong the life of the tilt lock system since there will no pressure.

Haven't had a reason to take mine apart yet. Bleeding the system is enough of a chore that I'm not going to do it just for fun either.

It works... I pushed it few times and cleaned, wiped it... No more leak when I activate the Roll Lock.

Thank You Maksor

same problem as mine
I did what Maskor suggested so i tried to push it in but its not working Ive tried to push it gently until i can feel that its pushing in and WALA after several tries its PUSHING IN AND OUT... i guess it got stuck up on dirt just like what Mr maskor said. Thank you for the tip...

But my next question is in case I need to replace an O-Ring how will I bleed the system?

One of mine was slightly leaky so I rolled back the outer boot and sprayed it with some GT86 ( which is similar to WD40) then cleaned it off externally. This did the trick. I wouldn't do this with brake components for fear of contaminating the brake fluid but for a system that is not safety critical its worth a try.

See my topic on page 1 "Tilt lock brake units strip down."

Easiest way is to get a big syringe and some hose and push the fluid up from the locking cylinder to the master cylinder.
