Just bought an 06 LX50and just have one problem with it. The indicator lights appear to not work at low revs (like slowing down for a turn). Battery has been checked and is fine as is the switch but before putting my multimeter across the regulator, has anyone come across this problem before? Indicators work fine when the engine has just been fired up but fail after about half a mile

Thanks Mudnman. But i cannot see any reference to indicator light relays in either of the circuit diagrams I have got. It's an 06 2T. Where is the relay located?

Yours sounds like the later model, in which the turn signal relay is part of the regulator/rectifier.

You might have a 'weak stator' - if so that's usually down to weak or broken magnets on the flywheel.

You could fit your own two-terminal flasher relay connected to the DC ignition switched side instead - if you buy one ensure it's OK with the small load presented by motorcycle turn signal lamps - car units can't usually be used as they expect to see a greater load, and will flash too rapidly.

Thanks JimC. The 2 pin relay sounds good. Do you know of anyone who has done this, and where they located the relay and took the feeds from?

I installed an "LED Flasher Relay 2 Pin" to mine. Don't worry about the 'LED' bit, it can work for any type of bulb. It just maintains a steady flash rate for any given load. Just enter the text in bold above to thingy-bay and take your choice.

At the regulator:
For the wiring I tapped into the white wire using a 'scotchloc' (Positive supply from battery via the ignition switch). Connected that to the +ve connection on the relay.
I removed the blue/black wire (the one that goes to the indicator switch) from the regulator plug harness (Use a lady's metal hair grip with the varnish blob removed from the straight end. Push it into the connector and the spade connector will pop out... If you can't be arsed - Cut it off!).
Connect that to the 'L' connection on the relay.

I can't help you with your specific wire colours, but I might be close.
If you want a picture of my installation, I can take some pics tomorrow.

This link will take you to a schematic of the job on mine.

Just ignore the bits that don't apply.

A bit of late night reading courtesy of JimC.

Go to the last page and that should be your circuit schematic.
The modification you have to do is as below.
I did it quickly so any queries, just give me a shout.

Edit

The White/Red Wire is +ve 12vDC feed from ignition switch. This is the one to use the 'scotchloc' connector to add a wire to the relay.
The relay will have a + terminal. That is the one for the +ve supply.

The L terminal routes the pulsed flasher power through the switch to your indicator lamps.

Edit 2

The image below may be 4T specific. So please note the follow up report, with thanks to Russbee:

The choice of Relay is yours. I chose this one because it was about £7 and ticked the boxes for ease of fitment.

Thanks Rich, top tip! Did the job today and the indicators are working perfectly.
Getting the spade connector out of the connecting block was impossible though so it had to be cut. For anyone trying it on an 06 LX50 2T the red/white wire is red/yellow, otherwise everything is the same.

Thank you too, Russbee for the update. The I assume the diagram I posted was for a 4T. I've edited my previous posting to reflect your 2T knowledge. Nice one.

Hi, thanks for an incredibly helpful thread!

I have almost the same problem as the original poster with my 2007 LX 50 2T. The indicator lights are not working at all.

Not working:
- Indicator lights (left and right, front and rear)
- Indicator instrument lights
- Tail light
- Brake light for left lever

Working:
- Main/dipped beam
- Brake light for right lever
- Horn
- Oil/fuel instrument lights
- Fuel gauge
- Main/dipped beam instrument lights
- Starter motor

I have already tried replacing the voltage regulator, but the symptoms are the same. Could these symptoms be due to a faulty stator and/or battery?

Attached is a picture I found of the LX 50 2T electrical diagram.
