So, Sunday we embarked on the first quest. We decided to head to the Scott Covered Bridge which is the Longest Wooden Span in VT. I made a quick gpx file using BaseCamp (practicing that skill learned over the winter) and we packed a lunch, and off we went. She was on my GTS250 as her's is awaiting a new rear tire and I was on the Downtown 200.
It was a gorgeous sunny, warm (into the 70's) day. We left Rutland around 11:15 am and headed towards Weston via some backroads and then onto RT155. Stopped in Weston for pics in front of the Weston Playhouse. They do fantastic summer stock here with notable actors. We saw one play with Christopher Lloyd in it. From there we continued south through Londonderry, Townshend and stopped in Newfane. We had lunch on some picnic tables and our scooters attracted attention from a bicyclist, who stopped to chat. Continued to Brattleboro with stops at covered bridges. We left Brattleboro heading west on RT 9 which takes one over Hogback Mtn with a nice scenic stop. There is Beer Naked brewery there so I bought a crowler to take home. In Wilmington we turned north on RT 100 to make our way home.
We saw lots of motorcycles, no scooters (but they are rare in VT) and got waves from just about every motorcyclist. We ended doing ~160 miles in ~5.5 hrs. Got home, had the beer I bought, started the Green Egg and had some nice lamb chops for dinner.
Overall a superb day and I hopeful it is a harbinger of more days like it this summer. I do have to get better at picture taking though and sometimes it is hard to stop as I am enjoying riding so much!
