Just when I thought the carb was fine on my dad's small frame it has decided to play up again.

I took it out for a test ride after getting it just about right and rideable then suddenly it doesn't want to play any more. I can kick it and it idles lovely but any more than a slight hint of throttle and it dies.

I've tried turning the mixture screw 1/4 either way but the result is the same so I'm thinking a clogged jet or maybe the float stuck?

Any pointers or starting points much appreciated

That carb is pretty easy to work on. Just pop off the float bowl and take a look, squirt some carb cleaner through the jet stacks, make sure the float goes up and down and isn't full of fuel, the floats can break/degrade and fill and no longer float.

Thanks mate I'll get it off tomorrow and have a look. Agreed they are very easy to pull apart, not much to them at all and it was running fine so must be something fairly simple

Dug this lot out of the float bowl and main, you reckon it's why it wouldn't run?!

Roll it up and smoke it and see what happens.

It lives!

Now to get it somewhere near where I had it before...

Anyone know roughly how many turns to wind the fuel and idle screw out as a base setting on a PHBL? Just trying to save myself some time
