You may already know, Lake Wobegon was a mythical city
in Minnesota created by Garrison Keillor in his US National Radio show
"A Prairie Home Companion".
Before Television, Americans across the country would
tune in their radios and listen to news, baseball games, and
their favorite programs.
Keillor fashioned his radio show after the "Grand Old Opera"
that broadcast country western music on early radio shows.
People would send in messages to the original show to pass
on greetings to be read on air to family members across the
Garrison Keillor's remake of this old radio show format was
wildly popular in the USA.
Each one of his broadcasts included a segment "News from
Lake Wobegon". This segment was a humorous take on
rural Minnesota Scandinavian culture.
He always closed the Wobegon segment with: "Where the
women are strong, the men are good looking, and all the
children are above average".
So there you have it.

That is the news from Lake Wobegon. The town disappeared when a map was folded incorrectly. Never to reappear.
