After years of wanting a Vespa in my youth I'm finally looking to make my first purchase in my mid forties. I've been having a look arou d at the classifieds to get a feel for pricing/condition. I'm really looking for a cheap run around for the moment before venturing into something vintage at a later date.
I have seen this ad which whilst refurbished 10+ years ago sounds ok. My main concern on paper is that the milage seems quite high mileage. I just wanted to get some general opions on it.

This is the google translantion from French (so there might be a few oddities)

Mileage 16,000

When you buy a scooter, especially a vintage Vespa, check the alignment between the front wheel and the rear wheel, check that there is no rust underneath and that it has not passed through the metal of the frame.

Hi, Not so far away, 1.5hrs to the border near Oulx. Thanks for the advice. Some good tips.
What do you think of the milage for the year?

It looks like.a lovely little Vespa, but it depends on the price of course. The mileage is very low for a 1979 Vespa, and you should not be worried, so long as it is close to genuine.

For the French Alps (one of my favourite places by the way), you will find a P125 is quite slow on the hills. I see it has a Sito+, but you will probably want to add some more power or buy a P200 if your license allows

Mileage is fine. See if you can get a list of what was overhauled in 2009.

Ask if it currently starts and idles. Poor owners let fuel sit and it becomes a goo that will clog the fuel system. If you know how to repair it, its a good negotiating point to bring the price down. If you dont, then its repair bills to add onto the price of the scooter.

Thanks is that just the bolts are the wrong way around or the whole rim. Looking at other images I see the bolt head is on the left with the nut on the right. This is the other way around.

the whole rim
the whole rim is backwards, I hope that is not a testament to the type of work that was done on it....
