Getting ready to pull the trigger on this upgrade. At least one reliable source tells me that installing the kit limits the engine to "only" 40,000 miles, at which time the lower end bearings lose their will to live. Now the sun may explode before I get ISO to that mileage, given the short-distance rides I make to the Post Office and dry cleaners here in Deepinnaharta, but has anyone experienced even earlier premature failure as a result of installing the Malossi kit?
I really don't NEED the extra power, as opportunities to exceed 60 MPH here are infrequent, but the idea of being ABLE to take to the highway and cruise at 70 (I have the aftermarket primary gears...) is attractive, as are the bragging rights of nudging up to GTS-level top speeds. Still, I am pleased overall with the performance of the 150 as delivered, with the Aftermarket clutch, variator and (soon) the SitoPlus exhaust. I have the money, I have some time occasionally to perform the cylinder swap. Lord knows I need the Garage Therapy. Anyone with a reason to talk me out of this?
