Think we're buying a house on Victoria Island in Nanaimo BC. We can rent it out until we retire there in about 5 years or less. Has a mountain and water view and is close to good restaurants and beautiful parkland and things to do. My wife has talked to the real estate agent a number of times and we have friends that retired there that checked it out. Good time to buy now and the mortgage rates are low.

Oh so many great responses
Oh so much joy to be shared
Happiness shared is the wellspring of hope for us all

cats
We've always had cats. But since the last 5 street cats we brought to the UK from Turkey I said no more. Anyway, I caved and agreed to adopting a rescue cat. We are going to pickup a 3 month year old kitten who has lost a rear leg from a rescue shelter tomorrow. I am actually nervous but excited about it. It will be a nice addition to lockdown life I think.

When I was a kid we had a big Siamese cat named "Sinbad". He was hit by a car, survived, but lost one rear paw, leaving only a stump. He never walked on the stump, but just hopped on the one rear leg. Or should I say walked, ran, and jumped on one rear leg. He had no problem leaping to the top of a six-foot concrete block wall and then over to the other side.

It's amazing how animals adapt to things like this. They just figure it out, get around in whatever way works, and (if I may anthropomorphize) don't think anything of it.

Got hurricane watch today now warning. Last year I started my generator during season but that was it. Today I went out and set the choke, opened the fuel, made sure it was on and counted to 5.

Started first pull! SWEEEEET! Briggs and Stratton and Seafoam rock!

Now I won't need it!

I think Obama gave a great eulogy at John Lewis’ funeral. Not sure it gave me joy but it did make me think.

Just having a coffee then it's a 4 hour ride to a cottage we've rented for 10 days that looks out on Lake Erie.

On the Patio with a Good Cigar and Brandy
Very relaxing after work. I do mix the Brandy with Diet 7-Up. I dip the cigar in Brandy and also sip on a side liquor "Strega" the " Witch" from Italy. i believe Attila will know of Le Strega.

This is Rufus...

He was a shelter rescue 2 1/2 years ago. He didn't look like that when we got him... he had short hair, mostly silver and black, the wonky ear, missing some teeth, a kink in his tail, and he smelled awful (was recently neutered). The vet where we were told us he was probably 2 to 3 years old, and fully grown; he weighed 10 pounds.

Within a few months, his fur grew, thickened, and became more blond and dark gray. He sported what has become a gorgeous mane. He smells great. Our vet says he is most likely a Maine Coon, and they grow for several years... he now weighs 17 pounds and is a lot bigger than when we first got him.

He is social, walks on a leash, and very mellow most of the time. Strong willed. My wife says, "You are his person," as he is always at my side.

When we first saw him, there was an immediate connection. My wife said, "He looks like a street fighter, a ruffian."

I said, "Rufus." That was all it took.

This furry boy makes me very happy.

and made it... High winds, lots of that crappy groved highway that they put down before paving and the rain gear on and off but I'm at the cottage. My arms are going to be sore from manhandling the Russian beast over those roads but it's wort it . Cold beer in the fridge and I'm about to pop one open and relax!

Guess I'm hogging the thread but so be it. Nothing says little things that bring joy like a loving wife, a motorcycle, a weeping willow and a fire pit while watching the waves come crashing in. Oh and a loving wife that let's you buy expensive toys is a bonus.
