Snap ring rear wheel - won't go back in place

Having a problem replacing the snap ring on the rear wheel. My husband has tried two different tools from AutoZone to put it back on with no success. Is there are trick we're missing?

That's probably regarded to right bearing of rear wheel axle. Why did you remove the snap ring? Did you replace the bearing?

No, we took the wheel off to get the new tire mounted and balanced. Removing the snap ring was part of the procedural video we used online.

Looks like the bearing may have moved out a little.
You could try tapping around the OD to get it to seat.
If it was me I'd take the muffler support arm back off and use a large socket to seat it.
That circlip doesn't have to come off, for future reference.
Oh, teeny dab of grease on the axle to help it come off next time would be good.
