Have an errand to run up in the Bay Area.
Loading my scoot and dragging it along.
Plan to stay in the Carmel area on Wed. night - then go for a ride on Thursday morning for half day.

Any of y'all have some experience with that area of the world?
A favorite road or two?
Currently planning to try Hwy 1 down towards Big Sur but welcome any suggestions or insights.

Thanks!

I used to love driving the 17 between Santa Cruz and Los Gatos and some of the smaller roads around the hills. I worked for a company in Sunnyvale and they always encouraged me to stay the weekend to get the cheaper flights. The 84 between Hwy 1 and the 280 is pretty cool too, via La Honda and Portola Valley.

Pondering ride options now.

Remote control winch - with extending rod that locks on to a range of rental truck flat beds. A proud invention!

Shoe horned in. Pulled the seats out of the back so that I would have some additional room to pick stuff up on the way

Google “Alice’s Restaurant,” in Woodside. That’s where you want to head. It’s at a 4-way intersection in the middle of the Santa Cruz Mtns, there’s a gas station + convenience store across the street, and it is THE destination for bikers of all sorts, car clubs, etc. From that 4-way, no matter how you arrived there, you can take a different way back, and you’ll be on some of the most scenic roads (for riding) that the Bay Area offers.

Additionally, take a ride up Carmel Valley Rd. when you’re in Carmel-by-the-Sea, consider a trip down “17-Mile Drive” (Google it...there’s a “toll” of sorts, but it’s worth it, IMO), and don’t forget that Laguna Seca Raceway is right there in Monterey, as well, if you’re a fan of motorsports racing.

Take lots of pictures!

Masala - thanks! Just looking at some of those roads coming and going to Alice's Resto. Looks terrific. That would be a great lunch run.

Thanks all!
In the end - decided to make a ride I have had brewing in the back of my mind for some time: Hwy 1 from Carmel to Big Sur.
Gasmk1 - passed your spot today.
I posted a few pics and a vid on my regular thread here if interested: http://modernvespa.com/forum/post2420599#2420599
Remarkable ride.
