Hi all, I have a 2010 MP3 250. Much to my surprise, it has a 140/60-14 rear tire. From the owners manual and the shop manual I was expecting a 12" rear tire. Is the manual wrong? Or did the Dreaded Previous Owner do something strange? Or...?

More details if it matters: It has 12" front tires.
The rear is a Pirelli Demon which is squared off after about 30,000km. Plus the DPO over-filled the rear drive oil and it has puked all over the tire. So the tire is clearly in need of replacement -- worn square, 10 years old, and oiled up. But before I order a new one I'd like to understand why the size is so different from what I expected.

Thanks!

May have been upgraded to the 14". Same as the 400's and 500's That's not a bad thing. The MP3's are hard on rear tires and the 14" will last longer.

the Lovely Wife and I owned two 2010 mp3s. They had the 14 inch rears. What you have is stock.

I forget what year they went from 12 to 14, but I'm glad we had the 14s.

You got your answers, but what I can add is that check what year the manual relates to, that way you may be reading the wrong manual if you obtained separately than the MP3.

Going to a 14' on the rear. More comfort, more speed per rpm, extra grip, probably a bit more mpg-not that you'd notice. Been very pleased with Michelin City Grip 140/60-14.
A+ all round

Thanks all! Yes the bike did not come with manuals, I got them online, so they may be for different years. I didn't know it mattered...
And yes if I had the choice I would prefer the larger rear wheel and tire, so all is good.
