battery is new

the island has no mechanic and i have limited tools at my disposal.

Check the injector is actually spraying fuel. Check you actually have spark. One or other of those is awry...

Definitely open up the inspection port in the left side floorboard plastic and make sure the spark plug cap is firmly attached and that the cable is seated in the cap.

after some fumbling about looks like there is no spark going to through the cable to the plug.

The cap unscrews from the cable. Hold the cable tightly with one hand and unscrew the cap with the other. Look in the cable end. If you see the wires in there, all the way to the end, good. The look in the end of the cap you just unscrewed and make sure it's clean in there. Then screw them back together snug but not really tight.

Was the cap hard to pull off the plug? Does it snap back on when you push it on? If it does, try to start it again.

just to close the thread

took the bike to the shop, and
the culprit was a blown fuse it was shorted but you couldnt tell it was burnt out. 3 of us had looked at each fuse one by one. anyway.. (fuse in question was the 5amp fuse in the back fuse box)

the fuse was burnt out due a short created by the left turn signal connector touching the metal of the left brake lever.
