I took delivery five days ago of a new 45mph Elettrica. i've put about 130 miles on it. It is fantastic.

There is something magical cruising around town with the silence of the electric motor. It is so peaceful, so quiet. And yet everything in the area is easily accessible.

I can understand hard core enthusiasts criticizing it because its acceleration is more muted than other brands (which have more aggressive power curves programmed in their software). But it accelerates fine. I can understand a few people genuinely need more range. But I have yet to discharge it below 60% (and that took a two-hour exploration of several neighborhoods around town just to have an excuse to ride it). It could easily do 4 commutes a week for my girlfriend without needing charging. But charging is ridiculously easy. Plug it in, and in the morning, you have a full "tank." No need to go to the gas station, no need to pull out a credit card and pump.

I was surprised by the weight. 270 pounds, I believe, when you include the batteries. I was surprised by how beautiful it is. The paint color, the yellow trim, the subtle sparse use of red.

The app and electric dash feel like they were designed by someone who really didn't understand how apps work and what users expect. But who cares? This thing is a joy to ride. And a joy to look at.

I got it up to 43mph today, on a flat section of road. Up steep hills, it has no problem staying in the 20s. City traffic is just fine with the Elettrica.

As you can tell, I'm enamored. It is my first scooter; it won't be my last. It is so fun. And so practical. And so pretty. And the Zen of driving around without noise is so amazing.

I'm happy to answer any questions you may have.

Welcome to the forum. Nice review.

Electric is definitely the future. One thing I wonder is how the battery copes with a bike being left out in the cold. I saw on Long Way Up they had some problems with their LiveWire's when it was very cold.

I don't have direct experience with it in temps below ~48F. The control unit does reduce charging rates in very cold weather, according to the owner's manual. But I don't know the impact on riding performance nor range.

When I get my first electric bill, I'll let you know the cost. Everything I've heard is it will hardly be noticeable.

I live in a building with a multi-story garage. I got a 25 amp dedicated circuit installed in my parking space. It is nice to wake up with a fully charged scooter. The design of the cord and its storage and use is excellent. The only issue is that the cord has tension on it that can pull the plug out of the socket. That's easy to prevent as long as you're aware of the possibility.

Congrats on the new scoot, and welcome aboard. Did you get yours from AF1 Racing in Austin? I recently bought a GTS 300 HPE from them (last month) - good people. I saw the Elettrica they had in stock; nice!

Glad to hear this new scoot is working for you. Keep us posted.

Although not suited for my riding, I'm glad it works for you!
Have you found premium electricity yet or are you fine with regular?

Also not suited to my riding, but it is fun if you ride short distances.
The girlfriend is also welcome if she rides Vespa.
She doesn't have to be shy...!

Well, speaking of octopi, from her last photo it looks like she's got a leg (or two, or eight) up on the situation.

Welcome to MV!

I tried the Elettrica last summer, renting it for a couple of days... it is amazing. If you live in a big city and you know that you are going to use it jost for not too long distances, it is the perfect suit. The acceleration of the electric engine is something you will never feel with the traditional ones, so my suggestion to everyone in this forum is to try one as soon as they have occasion! Just rent one for a couple of days as I did and you will see Wha? emoticon

The performance description seems to lie between the 50cc and the 150cc bikes. Where would you say it is in that spectrum? What would you say the range is in that use? Is the body size the small LX or the larger GT?

Welcome to the forum and thanks for posting this. I am seriously considering electric for my next bike, but there's precious little available that matches the Vespa, and I can't warrant the expense. Maybe in a couple of years when the prices come down or folks get tired of them.

I have been looking HARD at this car for a few months now. It's almost a done deal that it will be my next vehicle. I am a prime candidate; I am two miles from work and I rarely need to drive out of town. For that we have two other cars.

By my number crunching it will cost me less to drive the Fiat 500e than it does my 150cc scooter.
