Mystery part identification from 2004 GT200

Hi All,

Found this part peaking out from small hole on the bottom of the scooter near the side stand mount. I retrieved it with a magnet and was wondering if anyone can identify it and let me know how critical it is to the workings of the scooter

That looks to be one of the glovebox door hinge clips. And it looks to have broken off.

See here for same failure (and repair) on my LX.
