Buried in the article is the bad news. Sad news indeed.

Too bad; the Smax has a lot of fans in that size segment.

S Max was obsolete for some years, in Europe it was replaced by the N Max 125/155.

Is it obsolete because of pending Euro 5 regulations? It is probably the best in Class scooter here?

Euro 5 might also be the death of the K1600. Glad I got mine now and more than a few vehicles will no longer be because of this.

I found it to be a horrible little bike suited for someone with a 26" inseam. I'm a big fan of Yamaha, but didn't care for the Smax. It hauled ass to be sure, but I found it less comfortable than a Kymco Like. [/u]

seems this is a sign covid effects. which IMHO hasnt really taken place yet. its simply delayed with all the valueless currency pumped into the economies to keep them from collapsing. I hope huge inflation is not right around the corner, but fear it has to be.

most the bike dealers here locally look like they are going out of business. whats immediately obvious is dealers that had 100 bikes on the lot to sell only have 30 now. I was afraid to ask but finally did. plenty of buyers, they cant get bikes to refresh their stock was the answer.

I wish it werent so. but bleak looking future is looming. I hope I am wrong.

I can't speak for observing dealers but I can offer these two observations. All summer long online Chinese scooter dealers were listing many of their products as out of stock and had backorder dates. They are now listing more available products. According to the American Motorcyclist Association this has been a boom year for the industry as people find social distancing much easier on two wheels. The Parts and Accessory side has benefited also. Whether this will continue will be another matter but maybe all those cheap Chinese scooter owners will move up to bikes or better scooters after a while.

Too bad there is no Tricity 155 in the USA, even if it is not very fast it would be an excellent alternative to the normal two wheels of small dimensions.
