Just finished up getting these cases prepped for a VMC 177.

This is what it takes to get to this level:

*Degrease the cases
*Media blast
*rough cut the transfers in the case
*TIG weld the cases where i have broken through and also the gasket surface.
*Set the cases up on a mill and mill the surface true.
*Finish working on the ports shape to match the transfers in the cylinder.
*Run the cases in a Graymills parts washer
*Chase all threads
*Run again in a Graymills parts washer
*Clean cases with ZEP brake wash to remove solvent.

pretty work my man!

but yeah, that's pretty much it. work, clean, work clean, work clean and then clean again before assembly. tedious and time consuming affair.

And then to think that someone is just gonna get 2T soot and grime all over it smoking it up! It's too pretty!

Your TIG work is awesome. Definitely on my list of things I'd like to learn how to do.

Finished this out today.

These cylinders are very, very nice for the money. the cylinder head is very well though out and if you want to run a CHT gauge, then install of the ring/wire is a piece of cake-no screw around bending that damn thing to try to get the terminal/wire to fit. Comes

This engine has a stock clutch. . . but i think it's going to needs something a little more stout; time will tell. I cut out the bar on the reed "block" and install a single carbon fibre pedal that i cut out of a blank sheet from Polini. The Carb is a Pinasco ER that i really like.

This one of yours or someone else's? Nice choice of head nut, hopefully everyone's default choice.
Did you measure the port timing?

That's the alloy 'Stelvio' kit. The iron 'SuperG', which I have, has a similar/same port arrangement and comes with the same CNC milled head. I've not used the cylinder yet as it's very rough around the edges, and it requires a 60mm crank to be effective. Wish I'd bought the alloy kit as it would be on a scooter by now rather than acting as a door stop. I just don't feel like swapping out a perfectly good 57mm crank any time soon.
