The Guidelines of Modern Vespa do not allow for ANY discussion of politics. Period.

This is a tumultuous time, we all understand this. But please, please leave the politics in your other tabs and/or windows.

Going forward any discussion of politics will be met with swift and decisive action. If your post is deleted, take the hint.
A repeat offence will get you a timeout.
Furthermore, bitching or whining about the moderation will most likely earn you an outright ban.

To the agitators, shitheels, turds, slicksters and those that are think they are a little too cool for school; this applies to +1 and stirring of the pot. Also, to put it out on blast, this applies to the veterans around here as well.

all my love,
-greasy

This and the karma system are the main reasons MV has been so consistently good for many years.

Let's keep it about scooters and the occasional NSR threads.

At least here at MV.

As noted, there are many other places for sharing views on those topics, and feel free to do so elsewhere.

Agree! So why is talk about the virus allowed? It's become a politically destabilizing subject, the reason I almost never get on here anymore!!

Politics - To Sensitive these days
Good Call as usual.

There are about 20 regulars in my Scooter Riding Group. The political persuasion of the riders is all over the map. We simply ignore politics.
Our bond is the joy of riding. There is a elevated level of good humor in the group. Not a group to be in if you are overly sensitive.

There was a time, when reasonable folks could agree to disagree and
not exclude the other from their lives. I hold some pointed political positions
and have best friends who are the complete opposite. I think humor helps.

Good continuing call, lets ride - take your political soap box elsewhere.

Might be an idea to add this to the General Housekeeping at the top of the page even though its in the guidelines. You know that one day politics/religion will again resurface. " to err is human" and most of us are human.

From over 25 years of involvement in running a BMW Motorcycle club, I was often most unpopular by insisting that our meetings and discussions be secular and politics-free.

My experience is that personal beliefs (faith and politics) actually divide us from our common interest - riding Vespas.

I know that there are many riders who choose to pray for guidance in meetings and protection on a ride. They are welcome to do so in a group aside from the rest. If you permit one group to express their faith aloud, then you must permit all. Instead it is far better to allow a few moments of silence for prayer or contemplation, before continuing in a secular, apolitical manner.

Yes we do feel stifled and censored at times and right now I am only just resisting a strong urge to post a cartoon with a very topical political theme that I am sure would inject some mirth into a very serious time in US history. (PM me for a look...!)

I accept the rules and congratulate the moderators on their tactful application of the rules.

A diplomat is a person who can tell you to go to hell in such a way that you look forward to the trip !

while i thank your for your accolades, i must admit that i am anything but a diplomat. i'm rude, a big ass jerk, i hold grudges, use foul language, blunt, tell foul and or obtuse jokes and quick to get heated.

however, i am fair. and i will tell you honestly how i feel about a topic. i am open minded but there are specific topics and principles that i will not bend on. so, if you are the subject of my ire, well... you just found out what my special topic is.

i'd last exactly two seconds in politics because i'd be telling people to eat shit and bark at the moon; or asking them if they'd like to go out to the back alley and strip to the waist and box.

i mean, a good show either way.

but not, like, exactly a career so to speak.
